The Job
This newly created position will report directly to the V.P. of Sales, and Chief Development Officer and will be responsible for selling advertising and sponsorship opportunities across NHRA's media platforms, including National Dragster, TV broadcasts, digital channels, social media, and event-based activations. This role is ideal for a motivated individual with a passion for motorsports, strong communication skills, and a desire to kickstart a career in media sales. You will work closely with the NHRA marketing and sales team to build relationships with clients and deliver tailored media solutions that drive brand visibility.

Location: Based in San Dimas, CA
FLSA/Salary:
Exempt/ $55,000 + commission

Responsibilities
  • Prospect and Generate Leads: Identify and reach out to potential clients, including automotive brands, performance parts manufacturers, and consumer goods companies, to pitch NHRA media opportunities.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their marketing goals and proposing customized media packages.
  • Sales Presentations: Develop and deliver compelling sales presentations showcasing NHRA's media reach, audience demographics, and engagement metrics.
  • Negotiation and Closing: Negotiate terms of media sponsorships and advertising contracts to meet both client needs and NHRA revenue goals.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Team: Work with NHRA's marketing and creative teams to ensure seamless execution of client campaigns, including ad placements and event activations.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about motorsports industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging media platforms to enhance sales strategies.
  • Event Support: Occasionally attend NHRA events to meet with clients, facilitate sponsor activations, and gain firsthand knowledge of the sport's appeal.
Minimum Skills/Experience/Education Requirement
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 0-2 years of experience in sales, marketing, or customer-facing roles. Prior experience in media sales, advertising, or motorsports is a plus but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients.
    • Basic understanding of media metrics (e.g., impressions, reach, engagement).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) is preferred.
    • Self-motivated with a results-driven mindset and ability to work independently.
  • Passion for Motorsports: Enthusiasm for NHRA Championship Drag Racing and an understanding of its fan base and culture is highly desirable.
  • NHRA Knowledge: An understanding of the NHRA sport is highly desirable.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel occasionally (10-15%) to NHRA events for client meetings and event support.
  • Other Requirements: Valid driver's license and be insurable under NHRA's insurance policy. Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends during race events.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, run, lift, and/or climb stairs as needed.
  • Nationwide travel via road or air.
  • Ability to talk on the phone as needed.
  • Flexibility with meal periods when traveling to events.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in extreme temperatures when meeting with clients at events.
