EHSS Specialist 5

Location: Sunnyvale, CA

The EHS Specialist carries out day-to-day Sunnyvale site and global operations of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) EHS department and contributes to the development and implementation of an effective EHS management program by providing technical and administrative support.

Responsibilities



  • Conduct compliance reviews, site EHS inspections/audits, general risk assessments and other EHS assessments to support EHS management. Work with and direct site security personnel on inspections
  • Maintain relevant EHS logs, including OHSA 300 logs and documentation
  • Assist in the compliance and implementation of applicable laws and regulations
  • Prepare applicable EHS reports
  • Develop and maintain written EHS programs
  • Provide assistance and advice on EHS issues
  • Manage and monitor workers compensation program administration
  • Promote, administer and maintain accident, incident and injury prevention program and awareness. Lead investigations; conduct root cause analysis; manage data tracking and metrics analysis; identify problem areas; and recommend and implement actions to reduce incident rates, mitigate risk and minimize financial losses to the company
  • Conduct in person and virtual ergonomic assessments, procure ergonomic equipment and oversee the ergonomic program and training
  • Assist in the development and presentation of relevant EHS training
  • Manage EHS related site permits
  • Maintain safety equipment inventory
  • Monitor and manage hazardous waste disposal and removal vendors
  • Recommend corrective actions where EHS hazards exist
  • Manage and maintain US compliance posters
  • Manage the company transportation program, including the annual Sunnyvale commute report
  • Manage events
  • Develop, manage, maintain EHS data and metrics
  • Support the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System
  • Manage Green Business program and certification
  • Coordinate and lead site Safety Committee
  • Observe EHS regulations and company policies, encourage safe and secure working practices, correct obvious hazards immediately or report them to the proper personnel
  • Work with other employees and departments, external parties, and cross-functional teams to achieve specific goals and promote EHS within Juniper
  • Exercise a high level of discretion, confidentiality and sound judgement in the performance of duties


Basic Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in the environmental, health and safety discipline
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in the EHS field
  • Highly knowledgeable in EHS regulations, laws and permitting. Proven track record in managing EHS compliance.
  • Experienced in developing, implementing and executing EHS programs at the corporate and site levels
  • Demonstrated ability to work with limited resources and minimal day-to-day supervision
  • Beyond possessing professional and technical expertise for maintaining ongoing compliance, managing risks, and driving continuous improvement, has wide-ranging experience to successfully address new requirements
  • Uses professional concepts and functional objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
  • Has awareness of business operations, industry and regulatory trends, and changes in the general climate that may impact EHS, and proposes actions to effectively navigate the shifts
  • Has strong and effective written and verbal communication skills to enable interaction both inside and outside the company and across all levels of the organization to meet EHS objectives
  • Analyzes and utilizes quantitative and qualitative data to monitor the effectiveness of programs and drive continuous improvement
  • Possesses project/program management skills to execute programs and strategies from inception to implementation
  • Has experience auditing facilities and operations
  • Is proficient in utilizing automation and software solutions, and can communicate and evaluate system requirements
  • Utilizes organizational knowledge to build relationships, exercise influence and lead change in order to meet EHS objectives
  • Works effectively across geographic areas, facilities and operations

Minimum Salary: $117,600.00

Maximum Salary:$169,050.00

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $117,600.00 and $169,050.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Juniper's pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
