POSITION TITLE Encapsys Advanced R&D Chemist POSITION OVERVIEW The Advanced R&D Professional I role is to develop and leverage existing technology platforms and apply new platforms for Encapsys which will lead to profitable growth. The associate will work in collaboration with internal and external customers to bring new ideas to the organization which will result the development of products for Encapsys. They will work to provide new inventions that can be used in new patent applications. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technology to be applied to new platforms for Encapsys.
- Method/product line extensions will be developed.
- Collaboration with external research organizations, end use customers, and key suppliers.
- Invention disclosures and patent applications.
- Drive growth through product development.
- Work collaboratively with Manufacturing, R&D, and Product H&S to identify opportunities that require enabling and emerging technologies for existing product lines and processes.
- Lead as a member of six sigma problem solving teams.
- Develop, implement and support improvement initiatives in product design, manufacturing process development and purchasing.
- Recommend and implement changes to the existing product line and processes.
- Maximize the efficiencies of existing processes.
- Interface with customers to resolve complaints, institutionalize new processes, and develop specifications to continually meet their needs.
- Periodically the job may require extended travel/work at partner sites (Co-locations).
- Provide support to engineering during equipment installation and startup.
- Work with manufacturing systems manager and plant personnel to ensure a safe, high quality and efficient production environment.
- Ensure that activities meet all environmental laws and regulations and provide insight to continually reduce our impact on the environment.
- Provide manufacturing support for new products and processes.
Responsible Care

- Understand the RC-14001 Significant Aspects of your job and help ensure controls are in place to reduce or eliminate negative impacts.

- Contribute to continuous improvement of the environment, health, safety, security and Responsible Care performance and programs.
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
- BS in chemistry/materials science/chemistry/materials science/another scientific field.
- 5+years of industry experience preferred. PhD can equate to needed experience.
- Ability to work with a level of independence.
- Willingness to learn and live six sigma principles.
- Ability to apply engineering and scientific principles to resolve problems and make improvements.
- Capable of working in a flexible, often shifting, environment.
- Ability to interact effectively with customers, management team, and work group production personnel.
- Business knowledge of cost/benefits analysis, project management, negotiation, and strategic and tactical planning.
- Solid understanding of scientific principles and methodology is required.
- Proven ability to contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
