Job Summary
Supervises the work in the Pre-clinical, Clinical or post-Clinical areas to ensure that services fulfill the needs of hospital units and/or Outpatient service areas.
Essential Functions
  • Practices and models exceptional communication methods to keep staff up to date on policy and procedure changes. Acts as a liaison between management and support staff.
  • Plans the work of lab service areas to ensure that services fulfill the needs of hospital units/Outpatient services served. Formulates, modifies, and implements new procedures and policies.
  • Investigates problems regarding specimen handling, personnel, and pre-, post-analytical, and analytical processes. Manages resolution of those problems.
  • Inspects operations on a routine basis and corrects any deficiencies that are found.
  • Supervises the activities of staff who are engaged in providing laboratory services. Provides direction and support to subordinate staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, pay roll and training employees; planning and assigning work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 2 years of relevant experience Skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through 2+ years of related experience Required
  • 2 years of relevant experience Leadership experience in a healthcare setting Required
  • as a Medical Technologist Preferred
  • CRT-Medical Technologist, Certified (MT) - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology Upon Hire preferred
  • LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan GR Outpatient Phlebotomy Upon Hire required
