Neonatal APP PRN Position: Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP)/Neonatal Physician Assistant

Location: Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (JHBMC), Baltimore, MD

As part of the Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM) system, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (JHBMC) features a 26-bed Level III NICU and serves as a regional perinatal center in southeast Baltimore City. Our NICU cares for infants from 23 weeks gestational age and above, handling a wide range of neonatal pathologies and complexities.

Role Overview:

The NNP/APP will attend high-risk deliveries, provide care for NICU patients, and coordinate with Maternal Fetal Medicine and Hopkins Pediatric subspecialists as part of the medical team. This role includes participation in the Pediatric Code Blue Team. As an independent healthcare provider, the NNP/APP will:

• Take medical histories and perform physical examinations
• Order and interpret laboratory tests
• Perform procedures including intubations, ventilator management, central line placements, intraosseous access, thoracentesis, thoracostomy, exchange transfusions, lumbar punctures, suprapubic taps
• Prescribe controlled and non-controlled substances

Unit Features:

• Full spectrum of respiratory support devices such as bubble CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, conventional and high-frequency ventilators, and inhaled nitric oxide
• Staffed by board-certified neonatologists, neonatology fellows, and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners
• Opportunities for leadership in Research, Education, Mentoring, Informatics, and Patient Safety

Shifts:

• 12-hour shifts
• Rotating day and night shifts

Qualifications:

• MSN/DNP from an accredited nursing program or equivalent training for Physician Assistants
• Active Maryland RN and Neonatal CRNP licenses or appropriate Physician Assistant certifications
• BLS, STABLE, and NRP certifications
• 3 years of NICU APP experience required; Physician Assistants considered based on training and relevant work experience
• Active Maryland CDS and Federal DEA licenses

Salary Range: Minimum $85.49/hour - Maximum $85.49/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
