Overview

Inspects work of all departments to ensure that all parts, modules, assemblies, procedures and work instructions are followed. The Non-Destructive Inspector will ensure that all testing to be accomplished is IAW Work Specifications, Blueprints, Tech Manuals, Mil-Specifications and Standard Items. An NDT Level III individual should develop qualified and approved procedures, establishing and approving techniques, interpreting codes, standards, specifications and procedures, as well as designating the NDT methods, techniques and procedures to be used. The NDT Level III should be responsible for the NDT operations for which he is qualified and assigned and should be capable of interpreting and evaluating results in terms of existing codes, standards and specifications. NDT Level III should have sufficient practical background in applicable materials, fabrication and product technology to establish techniques and to assist in establishing acceptance criteria when none are otherwise available. The NDT Level III should have general familiarity with other appropriate NDT methods, as demonstrated by an ASNT Level III Basic examination or other means. The NDT Level III, in the methods in which he is certified, should be capable of training and examining NDT Level I and II personnel for certification in those methods. Witnesses or performs and documents (I) (V) and (G) point inspections and other tests at key points in the work process. * Ensure all QA inspection equipment being utilized is calibrated and is certified under the company's calibration process/programs.



Responsibilities

    Manages Welding Department including Welding Lead Persons and Welders.
  • Ensures welding labor force is adequately trained, is using proper procedures and equipment reflecting current technology that promote safety, efficiency, and quality.
  • Provides technical leadership to the welding production team.
  • Collaborates closely with Project Management Team in coordinating and resourcing welding work to coincide with integrated production schedules.
  • Ensures the welding production team adheres to production schedules and coordinates/tracks where personnel are and what job they're assigned to.
  • Communicates obstacles to progress and resource challenges to Project Management Team.
  • Participates in planning activities including preplanning, kick off meetings, and scheduling.
  • Collaborates with Quality Assurance regarding concerns with product quality, inspections, and testing.
  • Provides product requirements and technical expertise to assist the Project Team as needed.
  • Collaborates with Estimating on the development of new project proposals and estimates during the initiating and planning phase as needed.
  • Collaborates with the Operations Manager and Lead Technicians regarding resource allocation.
  • Familiar with shipboard Test and Inspection Plans (TIPS), Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M) and NAVSEA Standard Items and reviews them with lead electricians.
  • Ensures projects adhere to R&P's QMS and Safety Policy.
  • Maintain employee records (i.e. training action plans, training records, charge code authorizations, employee advancement plans and job descriptions)
  • Responsible for biannual evaluations and the approval of timecards, PTO and expense reports for their assigned personnel.
  • Lead, develop, and manage NDT testing operations.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all NDT methods.
  • Provide technical direction, training, and certification for Level 1 and Level 2 NDT personnel.
  • Conduct Non-Destructive Tests, such as PT, MT, RT, UT, and VT.
  • Set up and calibrate testing equipment to verify functionality and ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Perform inspections of materials, welds, structures, and components according to established procedures and standards while documenting defects or anomalies.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Perform audits and quality reviews of NDT operations to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to resolve technical issues.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of NDT experience required, with at least 2 years as Level 3.
  • Must have worked as an NDT within the last 9 months.
  • Must be Level 3 certified in at least 1 NDT method.
  • Ability to perform inspections and accurately interpret test results.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey findings and recommendations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.

Relation of the position to others in the company:
This is Lead position that directs the tasking of other support personnel on the contract. The position is embedded in the Government waterfront facilities. Daily interaction is with team members on this specific project.

Salary

R&P offers a highly competitive compensation package that includes contributions towards health insurance, 401(k) matching, and other non-salary benefits. Exact salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

  • Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $42.00-$45.00 per hour ($87,360.00-$93,600.00 annually).
