Position Description:




The Department of Anesthesiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as part of a multidisciplinary health care team, providing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for the patients of the inpatient services as a member of the Department of Anesthesiology.

The APP will have a strong foundation in evidence based practice and ensure an environment of safe quality care.

The APP functions as an intensivist within the Heart and Vascular ICU and manages all aspects of the assigned patient's intensive care stay from admission to transfer. Medical Management with Cardiac Surgical , Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Surgical Patients.

Preferred Experience: 2 years as an APP and or RN in Critical Care and/or Cardiac Mechanical Circulatory Support Experience or ICU and high acuity rotations for a PA-C

Position Requirements:

Nurse Practitioner: Master's Degree in Nursing - required.

Completion of a CCNE/NLNAC-approved NP program - required.

Nurse Practitioner: Specialty nursing experience - preferred.

Surgical nurse practitioner experience - preferred. Critical care experience - preferred.

Nurse Practitioner: Wisconsin Licensure as RN and Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP).

Certification as Nurse Practitioner - required.

Physician Assistant: Master's Degree from accredited Physician Assistant Training Program - required

Physician Assistant: Physician Assistant experience- required; relevant specialty experience- preferred. Critical care experience - preferred.

Physician Assistant: Wisconsin licensure as a Physician Assistant. NCCPA Certification as a Physician Assistant - required.
