The Business Process Engineer is responsible for guiding design principles and leading the analysis, design, and enhancement of business and legal processes across the organization with a keen emphasis on satisfaction and outcomes. This role demands technical expertise, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of various design principles to drive process improvements optimize operational efficiencies, enhance the overall experience for the Firm and its' clients. A remote work arrangement is available for this position.

  • Apply best of breed design principles to analyze current business processes and workflows, identifying areas where user experience can be enhanced, particularly via process/workflow automation, artificial intelligence, and business intelligence.
  • Assist in designing and implementing innovative legal and business administration processes that prioritize user needs and stakeholder satisfaction, leveraging technology, AI, automation, and business intelligence to streamline operations and improve client service delivery.
  • Work closely with legal teams to understand their workflow requirements and challenges, developing solutions that enhance productivity and client service while maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Facilitate workshops and design thinking sessions to gather insights from end-users and stakeholders, ensuring their needs are at the forefront of process redesign efforts.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for process changes, including maps, personas, and flowcharts.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to validate process designs and ensure they meet user needs and expectations.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the implementation of process redesign projects, ensuring a seamless transition and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Measure the impact of process changes on user satisfaction and operational efficiency, modifying designs based on developed KPI's and feedback.
  • Stay informed about the latest trends in design and process improvement methodologies.
  • Travel as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
  • 4-6 years of experience in business process engineering and process improvement.
  • Legal experience preferred.
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Design, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field, with coursework in and demonstrated application design entered principles or user experience design.
  • Strong familiarity with RPA, Document Automation, Generative AI, and Business Intelligence concepts.
  • Proficiency in design and process mapping tools.
  • Proven experience in business process engineering and process improvement, with a strong portfolio demonstrating projects where various design centered principles were applied.
  • Excellent discretion and judgment, with a keen understanding of the importance of confidentiality of data.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a deep empathy for users and a passion for improving their experiences.
  • Experience with user research, and usability testing methodologies.

In accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, the anticipated annual salary range for this position, depending on location, is as follows:

  • Rochester, NY: $107,00 to $158,950
  • Boston, MA: $118,000 to $174,900
  • Chicago, IL: $118,000 to $174,900
  • Los Angeles, CA: $118,000 to $174,900
  • Washington, DC: $118,000 to $174,900
  • New York, NY: $129,500 to $192,500
  • San Francisco, CA: $129,500 to $192,500

In addition to a standard benefits package, this role may be eligible for additional contingent compensation based on an array of factors, including but not limited to: work performance, geographic location, work experience, education, and qualifications. Because such contingent compensation is not yet calculable or may be zero ($0) in some circumstances, the above-listed salary range(s) are Nixon Peabody's good faith estimate of the annual salary(ies) it reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of this posting.
