Job Description The Sr Buyer/Planner is responsible for transactional buying, scheduling, planning, coordinating and monitoring the production and inventory requirements through the ERP processes in order to support system and service demand within assigned categories. The Sr Buyer/Planner will maintain good relations with suppliers, and support for Supply Chain objectives, goals, NPI, and KPI's. This position is located in our Madison, WI facility. Responsibilities:
- Analyzes production, material and capacity requirements and implements plans to support the master production schedule, customer orders and service inventory plans
- Manages and maintains appropriate levels of warehouse stock, work-in-process (WIP), assembled, finished goods, quarantined, and service inventory through the execution of the planning/buying functions.
- Performs production scheduling in the release, update, review, and closing of job orders.
- Participates in product and project teams to plan for and facilitate change management (phase in/phase out) and new product/assembly introduction.
- Processes engineering changes as related to WIP, inventory disposition, and material planning functions
- Communicates directly with suppliers to place routine purchase orders, expedite, and defer as appropriate to achieve service stocking levels balanced against inventories
- Manage backorder escalations to fulfill and root cause shortages
- Measures and reports on delivery performance of internal/external suppliers
- Drives lean practices with respect to production, inventory, and administration
- Performs routine inventory reviews for obsolescence exposure and disposition
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned by manager
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Production and Operations Management or related field is preferred; Associates degree and or/equivalent experience in production
- At least 5 years experience in materials/production management, including Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) and bill of materials
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA strongly preferred. Otherwise, experience with contemporary integrated ERP system required.
- Experience is a regulated manufacturing environment such safety and health (OSHA), FDA, and ISO quality system are desired
- Understanding production floor process flows
- Excellent verbal, written, and teamwork skills are required. Ability to work cross functionally.
- Computer skills including the use of standard office software programs including spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, and email applications
- Must be self-motivated with high energy level and a strong work ethic.
- Commitment to high standards of excellence and integrity.
- American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) certification preferred.
