Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Economic Analysis and Insights Manager. This is a hybrid opportunity based in our Washington, DC office.

The Economic Analysis and Insights Manager will support the broader insights and research strategy in assessing the societal and economic impact of safety standards to advance the mission of UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE) to make the world safer, more secure, and sustainable. The Economic Analysis and Insights Manager will design and implement an evaluation framework to measure the economic trends, impact and societal influence of standards development activities in mitigating harmful occurrences and address emerging hazards. Through rigorous assessment and economic measurement, the Economic Analysis and Insights Manager will conduct original research using secondary data sources, contribute to evidence-based narratives and inform strategic decision making to enhance global safety outcomes.

What you'll learn and achieve:

As the Economic Analysis and Insights Manager you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

  • Use advanced data analytics and statistical methods to evaluate the economic outcomes and impact of standards development activities in mitigating harmful occurrences and hazards. Develop quantitative and qualitative metrics to measure the societal influence of standards activities over time.

  • Develop and lead comprehensive methodology for studying the relevancy and economic impact of ULSE safety standards and policy implications. Design an evaluation framework to understand and assess the impact of ULSE standards and related verticals.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect quantitative and qualitative data related to safety standards activities. Use advanced statistical and qualitative analysis to analyze data and uncover meaningful insights.

  • Translate complex data findings into clear and compelling narratives for internal and external stakeholders. Lead the publication of economic analysis content, including presentations, articles, and white papers related to impact.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert. Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, actively engage external stakeholders, and represent the organization through presentations, seminars, trade shows, and publications.

  • Broaden reach of communication and engagement with external audiences. Build partnerships with domestic and international partners to gather information for standards-related economic activities.

  • Scope and lead end-to-end project plans, ensure deadlines are met and actively manage milestones and priorities.

  • Maintain continued awareness of industry trends and external context related to safety standards, offering insight to inform strategic decisions and direction of the standards development function

  • Contribute to department initiatives as needed.

  • Expertise in economic data analysis and statistical modeling techniques. Experience working with large datasets and data visualization tools.

  • Experience in economic impact assessment methodologies, including quantitative and qualitative approaches. Ability to design and implement frameworks to measure economic impact accurately.

  • Excellent research and analytical skills, adept at gathering, synthesizing, and interpreting complex data from diverse sources to inform decision-making.

  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and lead end-to-end project planning while maintaining quality, timeliness, reliability, flexibility, and accountability for all assigned tasks.

  • Excellent communicator and presenter with ability to articulate complex information effectively to diverse stakeholders. Proven capability in establishing effective relationships with others, including senior leaders and external stakeholders.

  • Experience fostering collaboration and partnership with cross functional teams to develop solutions with broad impact.

  • Strategic thinker with ability to innovate and adapt in a dynamic industry landscape.

Professional education and experience requirements for the role include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Data Science, Statistics, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum 9 years of related work experience.

  • Experience in economic data analysis or related field, preferably in the context of safety standards or regulatory compliance.

  • Subject matter expertise in at least one area related to product development, engineering, safety, and/or sustainability is desired.
