$74,100 - $195,000 Application Window Open date: May 12, 2025 Next review date: Thursday, Jun 12, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Thursday, Jun 12, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Applications are sought for a full-time Assistant Project Scientist position, with a focus on research in cardiometabolic disease using mouse models, cell culture studies, and 'omics data generation and analysis. The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary research team in the laboratory of Dr. Karen Reue in the UCLA Department of Human Genetics and the Metabolism Theme Area. The Reue lab conducts studies aimed at elucidating the basis of sex differences in obesity, fatty liver, postprandial lipid metabolism, exercise biology, and atherosclerosis using mouse models to interrogate the role of sex chromosome dosage and gonadal sex as determinants of these traits. Experience is required with experimental techniques that animal physiology, modulation of gene expression in vivo and in vitro, and 'omics datasets (e.g., bulk and single cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, CUT&RUN, lipidomics, proteomics, and DNA methylomics). The ideal candidate will have an interest in pursuing projects that aim to identify the contributions of chromosomal and gonadal sex determinants to cardiometabolic disease conditions ranging from the in vivo phenotype to the molecular basis for observed sex differences. The candidate should be experienced in, or motivated to learn, computational methods for the interpretation of 'omics data, and should be enthused to work as a team member within the lab to execute projects in the most efficient and rigorous manner. The candidate should also have experience and demonstrated ability in scientific writing of research manuscripts.
