Title: Supplier Development Engineer, Injection Molding Location: Anderson, SC Requirements:
- Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Industrial Engineering, Materials Science or Engineering Technology and 5 years' experience implementingmanufacturing processes and tooling for home appliances, including plastic injection molding tooling/processes (injection mold tool design, build and start up, new process introduction and improvements implementation).
- Must have experience in:
- Reviewing product design and assembly systems to optimize manufacturability for various home appliances including, injection molding, plastic welding, padprinting, hot foil, and in-mold decoration processes.
- Developing and implementing cost reduction projects for suppliers conversion, cost structure, and manufacturing processes.
- Utilizing Lean Manufacturing Tools and Techniques (VSM, TPM, OEE, 5S, SMED, line balancing, wastes elimination) to develop projects that reduce SCR and Cstar levels for various home appliance products.
- Apply quality control methodologies to the procurement of plastic components and tooling used in injection molding manufacturing processes.
- 30% travel required to suppliers' manufacturing plants and factories as needed.
Job Duties:
- Responsible for all aspects related to the planning, organization and leadership of supplier development projects, focusing on injection molding manufacturing processes for home appliances.
- Procure and analyze plastic components and tooling used in injection molding manufacturing processes and identify opportunities or implement changes to improve manufacturing processes or products to reduce costs.
- Implement manufacturing processes and tooling for home appliances, including plastic injection molding tooling/processes (injection mold tool design, build and start up, new process introduction and improvements implementation).
- Applying knowledge of the injection molding fabrication processes, tooling/processes, production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, product design, materials and parts.
- Apply quality control methodologies to the procurement of plastic components and tooling used in injection molding manufacturing processes.
- Check data availability and consistency from the suppliers and interpret it to make plastic injection tooling/manufacturing processes change recommendations.
- Provide insight concerning design processes and new manufacturing technologies during the product development phase to have the best possible performance in the suppliers for the start of production.
- Review product design and assembly systems to optimize manufacturability for various home appliances including, injection molding, plastic welding, padprinting, hot foil, and in-mold decoration processes.
- Review tooling design/specification improvement opportunities that might bring parts cost reduction (reduction of cycle time, scrap, rework rate etc.).
- Identify and maintain strategic supplier relationships by assessing supplier capabilities and ensuring compliance to contract.
- Work with commercial or industrial designers to refine product designs to increase producibility and decrease costs.
- Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
- Investigate or resolve operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks.
- Support cross-functional team throughout various phases of product design initiatives, including NPI, production, and commercialization.
- Develop and implement cost reduction projects for suppliers conversion, cost structure, and manufacturing processes.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing Tools and Techniques (VSM, TPM, OEE, 5S, SMED, line balancing, wastes elimination) to develop projects that reduce SCR and Cstar levels for various home appliance products.
- Update the design solutions using design for Manufacturing Assembly (DFMA) principles.
- Monitor and follow-up action plans with internal stakeholders to ensure data consistency and proper project execution and timing.
- Check and ensure compliance to the compulsory documents (nomination form, commitment letter and benefit sharing agreement) and Electrolux procedures.
- Travel to suppliers' manufacturing plants and factories (30%).
