The Pharmacy Technician Omnicell is primarily responsible for managing Omnicell inventory by performing responsibilities such as monitoring and stocking of medications in Omnicell, assembling new Omnicell and coordinating Omnicell maintenance. This position also spends a portion of time performing the job duties of a Pharmacy Technician; under the direction of a licensed pharmacist and following established policies and procedures, performs a variety of technical procedures to support hospital pharmacy operations.
In addition to fulfilling all duties related to managing the Omnicell devices and program this team member will be trained in all operational aspects of inpatient pharmacy and will be expected to staff occasionally as a front-line technician when warranted by departmental need.

Qualifications
- EDUCATION - High School Diploma or Equivalent
- EXPERIENCE -Two (2) years of pharmacy technician experience
- EQUIVALENCY - Completion of pharmacy technician program may substitute for one (1) year of the experience requirement.
- CERTIFICATION(S) -
- State of Colorado Pharmacy Technician (PHAT) Certification
- Certificate through a nationally recognized certification board or body approved by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) such as the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcare Association (NHA)
- Previous Omnicell experience highly preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Assesses and adjusts inventory levels to ensure Omnicells are appropriately stocked; performs stocking of Omnicells; identifies and resolves Omnicell inventory discrepancies and issues.
- Maintains Casual Sale records and ensures correct billing. Performs review of Casual Sale records for regulatory compliance.
- Assembles new Omnicells and coordinates Omnicell maintenance.
- Performs inspections for medication outdates.
- Ensures appropriate Omnicell access assignment for end users
- Teaches, trains and/or mentors new employees, students and other healthcare professionals according to standard operating procedures.
- Sustains quality and safety initiatives and practices in the department and throughout the hospital. Reports adverse drug events and medication variances using the hospital variance reporting program (QSRS).
- Assists with the maintenance of the medication barcoding system.
- Assists with diversion monitoring and waste procedures in the controlled substance area.
- Performs general duties of a pharmacy technician including but not limited to;
- Collects, monitors, documents and reports on activities according to hospital and department policy, and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
