Prolec is an electric industry leader in the Americas with nine manufacturing facilities strategically located in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil and an installed product base in more than 35 countries. Our Waukesha, WI facility is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team and lead initiatives that enhance safety, quality, velocity, and cost efficiency. This role is ideal for a hands-on problem solver who thrives in a heavy manufacturing environment and enjoys collaborating across functions to deliver impactful results.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key role in optimizing processes and supporting our Lean vision. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Champion workplace safety by enforcing OSHA guidelines and implementing proactive hazard removal measures.
  • Analyze current manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement using data-driven methods.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and ensure compliance across operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design Engineering, Procurement, Sales, etc.) to implement process and product improvements.
  • Lead continuous improvement events and apply Lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, SMED, VSM, and TPM.
  • Mentor team members on Lean principles and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Support capital investment projects from proposal through implementation, including cost analysis and ROI evaluation.
  • Contribute to quality system initiatives to reduce non-conformances and maintain a quality-driven culture.

What You Bring

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong process improvement and problem-solving skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of structural, tooling, and material handling methods.
  • Ability to lead and influence non-technical personnel toward technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills-verbal, written, and presentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus.
  • Statistical analysis skills and familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities with urgency and discretion.

Education & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences.
  • 4+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.

Preferred:

  • Lean Certification.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Experience in heavy manufacturing environments.
