Radiological Services Engineering Supervisor
Overview The Radiological Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for a group of radiological engineers and RADIAC calibration technicians, providing radiological oversight of nuclear work in the Groton Shipyard and at the Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department (NRMD) at Naval Submarine Base New London. The primary supervisory responsibility will be support of New Construction activities, PSA ships, and the RADIAC Calibration program. The successful candidate will collaborate daily with Nuclear Operations, Nuclear Test, Audit & Assessment, Radiological Controls personnel, Nuclear Engineering as well as other Naval Nuclear Propulsion Plant activities, local customer representatives (NRRO, RPCO, SUPSHIP), Squadron and Ship's Force. The group's products include: Providing calibrated RADIACs supporting waterfront radiological work and construction and test key events during the new construction process, supporting end users of RADIACs at the Groton Shipyard, Quonset Point Facility and NRMD, and supplying RADIACs in support of radiological emergency response. Other duties include deck plate support and oversight of radiological work in the Shipyard and at NRMD, the Radiological Deficiency Reporting (RDR) system, department purchasing and ordering, managing the Radiological Engineering (RE) continuous training program, the RE initial qualification program, and ensuring Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) Principles and NAVSEA 389-0228 requirements are met. Personnel in this group also support radiological engineering functions such as: Preparing radiological control agreements with Ships Force and Maintenance Activities, maintaining the radiological status of ships, and assisting in the development of exposure estimates and goals. Qualifications Required:
