This combined team, in collaboration with key partners, builds solutions to serve Marketing, Customer Engagement, Medical Affairs, Public Affairs & Access ("CMG"), and other patient- and customer-facing teams across CMG to shape and drive a seamless, consistent, meaningful, and compliant experience for patients and customers across our interactions. The team is specifically accountable for:

  • Defining omnichannel solutions, shaping engagement strategies, designing, operationalizing, and producing seamless, consistent & meaningful patient and customer experiences.

  • Accelerating, connecting, and enabling the development of digital solutions that enhance the patient and customer experience across CMG.

  • Advancing the mission of seamless, consistent & meaningful patient and customer experiences that maximize patient impact while keeping compliance at the forefront.

Job Summary

The User Experience/User Interface (UX/UI) Designer - Digital plays a key role in supporting the creation of user-centered digital experiences by collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and refine design solutions. This role assists in crafting intuitive, engaging, and accessible interfaces that align with business objectives and user needs. By participating in usability testing, research, and iterative design processes, the UX/UI Designer - Digital helps ensure seamless interactions across digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the design of the overall end-to-end user experience and partner with technical product UI/UX analyst teams.

  • Create and own the end-to-end user persona-based experiences across multiple digital products and platforms.

  • Drive customer/patient/user-centric design and generate requirements to create a best-in-class experience.

  • Design highly usable digital experiences via rapid-prototyping and testing on designs with internal partners.

  • Develop and maintain consistent design guidelines & standards across all products, including ensuring adherence to visual consistency.

  • Construct conceptual mock-ups to guide user validation sessions and instruct technical teams of general design requirements.

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to communicate design concepts and strategies and ensure alignment and integration of design strategies.

  • Partners with technical teams to understand how UX / UI requirements will translate into product design and guide the decision-making process to deliver the best user-experience considering technical restraints.

  • Communicate design concepts and strategies to stakeholders and team members.

  • Maintain quality assurance standards through rigorous testing and validation, providing documentation and training support as needed.

  • Develop UI/UX performance metrics to continuously track and update as needed (e.g., compliance metrics, bug fixes, number of users, scalability, usability).

  • Assist in the design of end-to-end user experiences and collaborate with technical product UI/UX analyst teams.

  • Support the development of persona-based digital experiences across multiple products and platforms.

  • Contribute to the refinement of digital design elements through rapid prototyping and usability testing.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure design strategies align with technical and business requirements.

  • Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities.

Who You Are

Minimum Candidate Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in design, human-centered design (HCD), or a related field.

  • 3 years in UX/UI design, with expertise in user-centered design and creating intuitive, visually engaging interfaces.

  • Proficiency in design tools like Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma, or similar.

  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards, design systems, and UX best practices.

  • Experience translating user needs into detailed wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and integrate feedback into design solutions.

Additional Desired Candidate Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced degree (e.g., Master's in Design, HCI, or related field).

  • Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or regulated industries.

  • Familiarity with system guardrails and design for technology-enabled solutions.

  • Expertise in design frameworks like Design Thinking or Service Design.

  • Experience leveraging industry benchmarks to deliver scalable, best-in-class solutions.

  • Experience developing end-to-end omnichannel or multichannel product / program experiences.

  • Experience working within an agile development environment, including participation in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and user testing to iteratively enhance digital solutions.

  • Exposure to omnichannel design approaches with a strong focus on integrating responsive web, mobile applications, and emerging digital platforms to create a cohesive user experience.

Location

  • This position is based in South San Francisco, CA, however a remote work option will be considered for US candidates who live outside of the Bay Area.

  • Relocation Assistance is not available

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is 135,660 - 193,800 - 251,940. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
