Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Reviews financial data and completes spreads for business loan requests. Calculates cash flow available for debt service at the entity level and guarantor level and consolidates into a global cash flow analysis when applicable.
- Conducts credit investigation due diligence using industry research tools, S&P research, etc.
- Analyzes and underwrites credit risk for moderately complex business loan requests with total credit exposure (TCE) up to $500,000, including analyzing historical financial information and business/personal financial statements and credit histories.
- Ensures loan requests are underwritten consistently and in accordance with the Credit Union's credit policies, procedures and standards to include a comprehensive analysis of all primary, secondary and tertiary sources of repayment.
- Oversees risk grading accuracy, annual reviews as well as financial statement spreading, compliance and regulatory reviews. Updates reports that track annual review relationships and tracks receipt of financials.
- Provides independent analysis of financial statements and business plans; identifies and documents key risks and appropriate mitigants.
- Oversees the risk evaluation of business credit exposure and compliance with associated regulatory requirements.
- Creates financial projections using historical financial statements, rent rolls, CoStar commercial real estate market data, etc.; prepares ongoing accurate assessments of collateral value based on CoStar market data or other industry tools.
- Generates credit memos for loan approvals/loan recommendations that properly identify debt capacity, cash flow adequacy, overall risks and mitigants, and risk rating; generates presentations for the Business Services Credit Manager or the Business Services Director of Credit Administration.
- Delivers approval or declination letters to the member and works with the Business Services Loan Operations and Documentation Specialists to create the loan documents then closes the loan with the member. Records loan denials and specific basis for declines.
- Manages transaction flow to ensure requests are processed in a timely manner and within expectations of member and prepares various portfolio reports to include past due reporting.
- Manages and services the Small Business portfolio of loans including calling for past due payments and insurance, underwriting renewals and modifications, processes releases of collateral, etc.
- Monitors the ongoing asset quality of individual loans and the overall loan portfolio by tracking changes in borrower credit profiles through timely completion of annual loan reviews, collection of required financial information, the calculation and testing of required loan covenants and the timeliness and accuracy of credit grades.
- Assists with ongoing development/revisions of business loan policies and procedures as needed to include education and training of branch personnel.
- Identifies problems with accounts based on analysis, and recommends solutions to the appropriate approval level.
- Assists with credit analysis for special asset relationships and works out strategies and provides underwriting assistance to the commercial underwriting team on new credit originations and annual loan reviews.
- Maintains member relationships and provides superior customer service.
- Provides an independent, current and forward-looking risk view of member business loans within the assigned members/prospects and portfolio. Authors independent risk recommendations including, but not limited to; risk rating, compliance and underwriting. The recommendation is reviewed and approved by an officer with the appropriate credit authority or Member Business Loan Committee.
- Underwrites and manages moderate member exposure. Develops an independent point of view and provides recommendations to appropriate decision makers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have excellent knowledge of various loan types to include real estate loans (both investor and owner occupied), construction to permanent, commercial and industrial loans as well as secured/unsecured and recourse/non-recourse lending
- Must be familiar with the risks inherent in analyzing loans to various industry types to include, retail, hospitality, food service, medical, non-profits, business services etc.
- Must be proficient at analyzing and preparing the Moody's financial spreads for moderately complex requests involving cash flows from multiple entities to include a global cash flow analysis which incorporates guarantor cash flows from single and or multiple guarantors both individual and corporate
- Must have sound understanding of accounting procedures and concepts, with ability to generate and analyze research data including a working knowledge of appropriate financial analysis techniques
- Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Must have strong presentation skills
- Must have understanding of determining loan to values and basic appraisal and environmental requirements
- Must have the ability to work with people at different job levels ranging from Senior Managers to front line employees
- Must have strong computer skills, including basic knowledge of MS Excel and Word
- Must have ability to understand all business processes within the credit union
- Must be detail oriented, with excellent time management and organizational skills
- Must be able to work in a general office environment
- Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required
- Must be able to complete all assignments with minimal supervision
- Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant's members
Physical Requirements
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required
- Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
- Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds
Education and Background
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, or related field required.
- 2+ years' experience in credit underwriting required, to include analyzing business financial statements, evaluating and structuring business loan requests, and generating business loan documentation. Experience with Moody's financial statement spreading system is preferred.
- Experience with CoStar, Hoovers, or similar market research platforms preferred
- 3+ years financial analysis background of both business and personal tax returns that includes completion of credit analysis of financial statements for C Corps, S Corps, LLC, Partnerships, Trusts, and other legal structures preferred
- Previous experience in financial services/business development related field preferred
