Job Summary

The Internal Auditor, working under minimal supervision, is responsible for completing most aspects of the audit process including planning, performing risk-based assessments, identifying controls used to manage risks, as well as developing and executing testing procedures to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the controls within budgeted timeframes. This role also involves writing audit reports encompassing observations, exposures, and recommendations, while also requiring effective communication and close collaboration with employees at all levels.

Job Responsibilities



  • Conducts risk assessments to identify potential risks and areas of concern within the organization, involving analyzing processes, systems, and controls to determine the likelihood and impact of risks.
  • Ensures timely completion of assigned tasks while upholding the highest quality standards and adhering to professional audit protocols.
  • Ensures familiarity with and compliance with audit procedures.
  • Gathers, analyzes, and evaluates evidential material and prepares comprehensive and well-documented work papers that support the findings of the audit.
  • Carries out test steps in accordance with the risk and control matrix.
  • Monitors and assesses compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies including reviewing legal and regulatory requirements, performing audits to ensure adherence, and recommending corrective actions to address any compliance gaps.
  • Prepares audit reports and communicates findings, recommendations, and corrective actions to senior management, audit committees and relevant stakeholders, including presenting audit results, facilitating discussions, and collaborating with management to address identified issues and improve internal controls.
  • Provides ongoing support for internal controls to business units by consulting on projects, special requests, and other risk management activities.
  • Reviews the work performed by other auditors assigned to the project, oversees work products, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Identifies and investigates potential instances of fraud, including misappropriation of assets, fraudulent financial reporting, or unethical practices, involving analyzing data, conducting interviews, and recommending appropriate actions to mitigate fraud risks.
  • Develops and updates narratives, walkthroughs, flowcharts, and control tests, and conducts substantive testing for external audit work.
  • Performs necessary follow-up procedures regarding audit observations promptly.
  • Shares knowledge, trends, and best practices with team members to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in completing audits and to strengthen the company's risk assessment.
  • Cultivates relationships within the company to promote a better understanding of Internal Audit throughout the organization and to be recognized by external stakeholders as a control's expert.
  • Remains up-to-date with industry trends and expands knowledge and expertise within the Internal Audit department, as well as the insurance industry.



Job Qualifications



  • 2 -5 years of experience in Internal Audit, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field and/or commensurate experience.



Location

Hybrid defined as three or more days per week in the office.
