Red Team Operator Malware Development

We are seeking a highly skilled Red Team Operator join our super awesome Information Security Red Team. Our ideal candidate will specialize in malware development and red team operations to enhance our capabilities and support our team's mission.

Primary Responsibilities:

As a Red Team Operator, you will:

• Conduct comprehensive red team engagements targeting State Farm associates, processes, and technologies.
• Develop custom tools and scripts to fulfill red team mission objectives.
• Produce detailed reports outlining vulnerabilities, risks, and recommended mitigation strategies for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with purple team initiatives to strengthen our overall security posture.
• Stay current with emerging security trends, tools, and methodologies.

We Are Seeking Candidates With:

• At least six (6) years of experience in technical and information security roles, including:
• A minimum of three (3) years in malware development and red team tooling development.
• At least three (3) years in related technical roles (e.g., penetration testing, security engineering, system administration, SOC).
• Experience in creating custom beacon object files and position-independent coding.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation technologies.
• Demonstrated experience developing custom red team tools using low-level programming languages, primarily C and/or C++.
• Demonstrated experience in leading red team operations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with a command & control (C2) framework and its deployment.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple time zones.

Because work-life balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week!

• Potential starting salary range: $104,000 - $140,000.
• Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
• High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
