Job Summary The Director, Stakeholder Engagement is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, management and oversight of the Florida Stakeholder Engagement team. They work collaboratively with business units (PGO, Renewables, etc.) to support the strategic direction by developing processes for both internal and external communications as it relates to major infrastructure projects or other operational efforts impacting our customers. This Director is responsible for hiring, training, developing and leading a team of professionals to execute engagement strategies in support of an average annual capital investment of $XXX billion. The primary focus is to develop and execute effective localized engagement plans for the engagement, education and communication with external parties on key grid initiatives related to capital investment deployment. The team will execute plans to implement infrastructure investments in coordination with other key internal stakeholders and external partners, working at all levels including utility customers, agencies, key community leaders, environmental groups and interest groups (HOA's, neighbors, retirees), while maintaining a positive reputation in the community. Particular emphasis in this role is on creating a framework whereby stakeholder feedback is considered, public issues and questions are effectively addressed, and the number of external parties supporting our plans are maximized, and the number opposing our plans is minimized. This role requires a broad understanding of the company's planning processes, its operations and constraints, as well as knowledge of the stakeholders who will be involved in the execution of Duke Energy's capital investments. The Director, Stakeholder Engagement is responsible for developing the internal and external engagement strategy while working with leaders across the enterprise to identify public engagement concerns and priorities. The Director and the team will work with the following internal parties to develop this engagement strategy:

The Director, Stakeholder Engagement is responsible for: Stakeholder Engagement:
- Works across the enterprise with other leaders to develop strategic engagement activities and policies.
- Interfaces with State Presidents, Government and Community Relations, State External Affairs, to ensure team is developing effective engagement plans to support the investmentstrategies for Florida.
- Manage a team that supports the development and execution of engagement plans that support an average $XX B in capital investments.
Communications:
- Provide two-way dialogue and business intelligence for key leaders, along and in coordination with the PGO, Renewable and Distributed Energy business unit and other relevant groups.
- Develop and support appropriate tools/mechanisms to assure that internal business units receive timely information regarding stakeholder positions and inquiries.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with internal and external partners.
- Foster strong relationships through open and frequent dialogue.
- Educate key stakeholders on current and emerging issues affecting communities, customers and our company in an effort to build advocacy and understanding, and enhance reputation as a transparent, ethical, sustainable company.
Representing the Company
- Advocate for the company and ensure appropriate representation, as needed with external agencies and organizations on energy, environmental and sustainability issues.
- Represent Duke Energy in strategic industry/associations and organizations to enhance business relationships, gain business intelligence, and enhance reputation as industry leader.
Basic/Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Engineering, Political Science, History, Law or other related degree
- In addition to bachelor's degree, seven (7) years minimum of related work experience
- In lieu of bachelor's degree, high school diploma AND fourteen (14) years minimum of related work experience

- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
- Previous leadership in an external stakeholder organization.
Working Conditions
- This position will be located primarily in an office environment, but travel to various locations is anticipated, including generating stations, T&D facilities, operations centers, customer properties and job sites, etc.
- On and off system travel is required and will vary between 25-30 % on average.
- Attendance at early morning, night and weekend community meetings and activities may be required at times.
- Requires availability 24/7 for storm response or other issues/emergencies
- Hybrid mobility classification - work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to St Petersburg, FL or Lake Mary, FL.
