New Product Development Lead Process Engineer

About the Role: We are looking for Lead Process Engineers for our New Product Development teams within our Aortic and Peripheral businesses. The Lead Process Engineer will support new product development focusing on design requirements / implementation, process / product validations, and design control. This person will work in a fast paced and dynamic environment where taking initiative and collaborating cross-functionally are critical for success. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and driving key aspects in the development of new products, including the creation of new prototypes and evaluation of fitness for use of materials, designs, processes, and tests while also leading, assisting, or mentoring Associates.

These positions will be located at one of our facilities in Flagstaff, Arizona, or Phoenix, Arizona, with the possibility of a hybrid remote work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to Process Engineers on the team, direct project work and guide functional development
  • Work with the Project Manager, Technical Integrator, and New Product Operations Leader to define all work required for the project from a Process Engineering perspective, develop the schedule for those tasks, define resource needs (investments, personnel, equipment, etc.)
  • Identify project risks associated with Process Engineering aspects of projects and the associated mitigating and contingent actions for those risks
  • Contribute to and/or manage various Design Control activities and other essential work
  • Understand and translate design inputs into process and equipment design inputs and partner appropriately to align user requirements across the entire supply chain
  • Align product, process and equipment designs to leverage platform capabilities, balance risks, elevate design risks and help to resolve trade-offs between fitness for use, manufacturability, and timeline
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments based on statistical techniques
  • Own the Performance & Development Process for all process engineers and technicians within the team to both meet business objectives and achieve their career aspirations; additionally, drive resolution of interpersonal and team performance issues and escalate issues to Technical Integrator, functional leaders, and decision makers, as appropriate
  • Establish clear expectations of equitable and inclusive behaviors from Associates and act immediately to appropriately address negatively impactful or unfair behavior

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or other technical discipline, and a minimum of 4 years of hands-on process engineering experience in an engineering role supporting medical products
  • Demonstrated medical device New Product Development experience and a strong knowledge in process development and validation
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining an inclusive work environment with clear understanding of equitable practices
  • Solid knowledge of engineering fundamentals and statistical techniques, project best practices, fitness-for-use and the ability to apply this knowledge to manufacturing, product design, and technology development
  • Strong documentation, communication and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach technical Associates to achieve business results and develop skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan, and execute multiple projects concurrently from development to completion by utilizing project best practices and critical thinking to navigate technical and project uncertainties including the ability to document, communicate, and present technical bodies of work
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with cross-functional teams and influence others to achieve business objectives
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

  • Experience driving performance and development and/or actively participating in the development of other associates through mentoring
