We are seeking Building Services Workers for our state-of-the-art community center. This role offers a flexible work schedule of 25 hours per week with a pay rate of 15.34/hour.

The Building Services Worker is a key member of the Kroc team, responsible for delivering excellent customer service while supporting the organization's programs and mission. This role primarily involves setting up, tearing down, and changing over equipment for events and programs, as well as performing groundskeeping, light maintenance, and housekeeping duties. Responsibilities include operating landscaping and maintenance equipment, assisting with facility-related tasks, ensuring cleanliness, handling deliveries, and maintaining safety protocols. The position requires strong communication skills, a collaborative attitude, and the ability to support overall building operations efficiently.

The position includes paid time off with 10 days of vacation per year, 12 sick days per year (4 of which can be taken like vacation days), 12 paid holidays, 2 personal days, and the ability to earn an additional 2 days of PTO through our wellness program. KROC CENTER MISSION

In keeping with the mission of The Salvation Army, The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center provides facilities, programs and services that strengthen, encourage, and enrich children, adults, and seniors through positive life-changing experiences.

SUMMARY/PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Building Services Worker is a collaborative member of the overall Kroc team focused on providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers in support of the programs and mission of the Kroc. This role emphasizes setup/tear down and groundskeeping duties and support to other team members to ensure effective operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements of this position.   1. Setup, tear-down, and change-over for events and programs including tables, chairs, staging, barricades, pipe and drape, signage, program-specific items, and all other related equipment.
  2. Perform outdoor maintenance tasks to include groundskeeping and landscaping, shoveling and salting, which includes the operation of all relevant equipment including weed trimmers, lawnmowers, snowblowers, etc.
  3. Under the direction of team leadership, perform light maintenance tasks which may include the use of ladders, tools, and other equipment. Areas of responsibility may include painting, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems.
  4. Respond promptly to radio calls and other contacts seeking facilities team member assistance, communicating well and being ready and willing to assist with facility needs.
  5. Assist with housekeeping activities to ensure a clean, healthy environment for employees and guests; ability to utilize various cleaning chemicals and equipment (incl. mop/bucket, carpet vacuums and extractors, floor machines, power washers and scrubbers, etc.).
  6. Receive deliveries and ensure items are stored properly or the appropriate contact is advised of the delivery.
  7. Knowledge and use of all proper personal equipment, including wearing of protective gloves, safety glasses, and lifting belts.
  8. Perform tasks related to the care, maintenance, and repair of assets related to programs and events.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:



  • Must be at least 18 years old


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years experience preferred

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:



  • First Aid, CPR and AED Certification for Adult, Child, and Infant to be obtained within 60 days of hire. Applicant must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's License with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance carrier.

This job is performed in a busy community center environment which includes but is not limited to a typical office setting, a gymnasium, an aquatics center, and event spaces. The building is climate controlled and most work will be done at normal room temperature, however some work areas may be more humid or of variable temperature based on the activities taking place at the time. The noise level in this work environment can range from low to loud.

For other duties of this job, such as groundskeeping and other outdoor maintenance duties, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment when outdoors can again range from low to loud.

This position requires the employee be available to work days, weeknights, weekends, and holidays as required.
