Inside the Role

The Regulatory Affairs Specialist plays a key role in ensuring that products meet both external regulatory requirements and internal quality standards. This position is responsible for preparing and submitting product notifications, approval applications, and testing documentation to relevant government and regulatory bodies. In addition, the Regulatory Affairs Specialist monitors proposed regulations, evaluates their potential impact, and advises leadership accordingly.

This role also supports the implementation and auditing of compliance processes, working closely with cross-functional teams to maintain alignment with applicable standards. The Regulatory Affairs Specialist provides guidance to product development and marketing teams on regulatory considerations related to product changes, testing protocols, labeling, literature, and advertising.

Position offers a starting salary range of $90,000 - $115,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, andexperience

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Drive successful outcome of engine emissions and greenhouse gas certification processes, including test planning, test execution oversight, data integrity reviews, and creating and compiling of certification documentation

  • Conduct assessment of software, calibration, controls, or component changes for potential emissions impact and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance is maintained

  • Create documentation for notification to agencies of any product change that impacts emissions or modifies/amends the certification application documents for all engine families, as required by regulation

  • Ensure processes and procedures related to engine certification and emissions compliance are created, modified as necessary, and followed

  • Support and foster compliance and regulatory management system initiatives both locally and globally, including self-audits of products and processes, software and calibration reviews for emissions compliance, and defining any required corrective actions

  • Participate on behalf of the company in industry forums such as EMA and SAE

  • Maintain robust, efficient, and collaborative interface between powertrain development, test lab, and vehicle certification teams to ensure required engine and vehicle certification data and documentation is accurate and available on time

  • Support engine production plant with specific compliance-related tasks

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree with a focus in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field and prefer 2+ years of relevant experience OR 6+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree

  • Demonstrable ability to clearly write and explain technical concepts and technical descriptions given graphical, verbal, or diagrammatic references

  • Fluidity with Microsoft Office, Microsoft365, and similar productivity applications and tools

  • Experience processing large amounts of complex test data and results, summarize data-driven conclusions, and formulate data-driven decisions and recommendations

  • Fundamental understanding of heavy-duty diesel engine operation, emissions and/or controls

  • Basic understanding and familiarity with US EPA and CARB emissions regulations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Previous experience related to heavy-duty diesel engine certification according to US EPA and CARB regulations

  • Deep understanding of US EPA and CARB emissions, greenhouse gas, testing, and documentation regulations

  • Extensive knowledge or product development experience related to diesel engine emissions controls

  • Capability of using advanced engine calibration and programming tools, data analysis and visualization tools, scripts or related programming languages, or data management/forms languages (for example, XML)

  • Proficiency with technical content writing or describing complex technical content in narrative form
