Overview

The successful candidate must provide technical assistance and overall direction to a team of hourly representative employees. Core to this position is the successful performance of the team's Safety, Quality, Cost, schedule and continuous Improvement.

Effective communication, leadership, creating a positive team environment with employees and peers is key to success for the selected candidate. This position of Operations Supervisor provides a platform to gain a working knowledge of various manufacturing environments and their relationships with other parts of Electric Boat business. This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineer or experienced trades-person to advance into a career-building leadership position and gain invaluable experience to support their career development.

Roles and Responsibilities:

    Lead the activities of approximately 15 Piping Trades employees in the performance of preparing, assembling and installing equipment on-board submarines
  • Primary point of contact to interface with Engineering, Ship's Management, Quality and other trade departments
  • Lead the team to achievement of company goals for Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Process Improvement
  • Take ownership of team performance


Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma/GED
  • 3+ years of piping trade experience

Preferred:

  • College/technical school AS/BS Degree in any Engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of piping experience is desired
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Previous related Military/Navy experience
  • Nuclear qualifications


Skills

  • Have the ability to read and interpret Blue Prints, procedures, and related reference documents
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and supervisors
  • Must be able to work all assigned shifts
  • Must be able to work extended hours
  • Must be able to go on road assignments as business needs dictate
  • Applicant must apply for a DOD security clearance as a condition of employment
  • Capable of reading, interpreting and putting into effect plans, procedures and instructions
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Power Point and with a computer
  • Good presentation skills preferred
