Staff Position Summary

The Data Specialist reports to the Assistant Director, Career Connected Learning Data & Analytics and will be expected to have the ability to manage, review, and analyze large data sets while also working in a team environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College.

  • Ability to identify and address opportunities and challenges arising from Dallas College's current transition.

  • Knowledge of Career Connected Learning programs and funding options for participants.

  • Ability to analyze multi-layered problems and propose solutions.

  • Knowledge of compliance with pertinent state and federal laws and regulations.

  • Manage incoming student career-connected learning profiles.

  • Input data and analyze information required to measure outcomes and deliverables of initiatives.

  • Collaborate with team leaders and members to create customized solutions and strategies for the collection and evaluation of program services and resources.

Physical Requirements

Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment. Reasonable accommodation may be made for individuals with physical challenges to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Two years of college credit. Three years of experience may be substituted for one year of college credit.

  • Three (3) years of experience in working with data collection and/or input.

  • Three years of progressive responsibility in supervision of staff.

  • Official transcript will be required.

  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute a comprehensive, data-driven input and tracking strategy for Career Connected Learning activities.

  • Audits a wide variety of documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with the program, Dallas College and external agency's regulations and standards.

  • Coordinates, tracks, and analyzes the grant deliverables with funding agency, and develops a strategic plan for program self-sufficiency.

  • Create monthly reports to advise the status of grants to various campus departments, district resource development and Texas Workforce Commission.

  • Stay up to date on any changes to the law regarding grants policies.

  • Perform data collection, input and analysis required to measure program performance and distribute resources.

  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
