Overview
Leads the company's responses to both internal and external data requests, including data calls by regulators providing coordination, training and quality assurance for all lines of business. Provides statistical reporting for all lines of business, including ISO Statistical Plans and/or Workers Compensation policies and proof of coverage. Proactively reviews and evaluates internal processes for effectiveness and efficiency. Identifies alternative approaches and implements solutions to enhance the consistency, quality and timeliness of reporting. Provides training, mentoring and coaching to other compliance professionals. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of reporting analysts responsible for the timely and accurate data submissions to state departments of insurance, NCCI, Independent Workers Compensation Bureaus, ISO, AAIS and other statutory and regulatory entities, including statistical reporting for all business lines.
- Maintains a company-wide log of all data calls to ensure complete and accurate coverage. Creates templates to assist other compliance professionals in responding accurately to data calls.
- Identifies data quality issues affecting reporting, documents requirements to resolve issue, performs user acceptance testing and approves implementation of changes.
- Directly handles post-catastrophe data calls with regulators.
- Serves as mentor and trainer for other compliance professionals on the handling of complaints and data calls. Responsible for coordinating various trainee and intern programs within the department.
- Explains the business impact of regulatory changes to people within different departments at Selective, e.g. actuarial, legal, information technology, etc.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with external parties, including regulators, trade associations and industry peers.
- Attends regulatory training opportunities and can participate in external associations planning, training and / or Board level activities (examples include IDMA, AICP, IRESF).
- Collaborates with other functional areas on special projects, such as the creation of a data governance glossary and moving data source responsibility from business intelligence to information technology.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Requirements
- Experience in P&C insurance compliance matters, new issues and trends.
- Solid knowledge of statistical analysis in the bureau reporting space.
- Working knowledge of insurance department processes and ability to articulate the business impact of bureau and regulatory changes.
- Exceptional analytical skills and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills and experience with report generation tools and data analysis.
- Curious with the demonstrated ability to apply new knowledge quickly.
Education and Experience
- College degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in the insurance industry.
- At least 5 years of experience in data collection and analysis.

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
Pay Range
USD $97,000.00 - USD $146,000.00 /Yr.
