A REMOTE Senior Systems Engineer job is currently available at Belcan. We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Systems Engineer and Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the development of an Aircraft Battle Damage Assessment and Repair (ABDAR) Technical Manual. This individual will provide critical engineering insight and technical leadership, supporting and advising the program"s Principal Engineer without acting as the overall team lead.
The ideal candidate has deep experience with aircraft structural and systems repair, direct exposure to ABDAR documentation or field operations, and a strong understanding of relevant safety and technical documentation standards - including FMECA, FHA, MIL-STD-87158D, and MIL-STD-38784B.

Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as the primary technical SME for ABDAR development, advising the Principal Engineer and supporting cross-functional teams.
* Develop and review FMECA (Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis) and FHA (Functional Hazard Assessment) to inform repair prioritization, mission continuation risk, and safety analysis.
* Contribute directly to the ABDAR Technical Manual, including damage classification logic, repair techniques, and structural risk mitigation.
* Provide detailed technical input on structural failure modes, damage tolerance, fatigue/fracture behavior, and systems survivability.
* Ensure technical documentation meets the requirements of MIL-STD-87158D (Aircraft Battle Damage Assessment and Repair) and MIL-STD-38784B (Technical Manuals).
* Align solutions with operational constraints and mission requirements such as Aircraft Over Watch (AOW) and forward-area maintenance support.
* Participate in technical reviews, engineering discussions, and documentation audits.
* Support collaboration between engineering, field SMEs, and technical authors to ensure accurate, practical, and compliant content.

Required Qualifications:
* 10+ years of experience in military or commercial aircraft structural and systems repair, including depot- or field-level expertise.
* Prior experience in ABDAR development or combat damage repair scenarios.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct or review FMECA and FHA in support of aircraft systems safety and reliability efforts.
* Deep understanding of MIL-STD-87158D and MIL-STD-38784B and their application to ABDAR and technical manual development.
* Expertise in structural damage mechanics, mission assurance, and repair under operational constraints.
* Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering and documentation teams.
* Able to be onsite in Waco, TX for the first two weeks for training
* Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is a requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Field deployment experience with aircraft repair in contingency or combat support environments.
* Familiarity with MIL-STD-882, S1000D, OEM structural repair manuals, and U.S. military technical data requirements.
* Experience mentoring or advising within IPTs (Integrated Product Teams) or cross-organizational projects.
* Systems engineering certification (e.g., INCOSE CSEP) or advanced degree in aerospace or systems engineering.

We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $170,000 to $225,000. Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
