Job Summary:

The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for the safe, timely, and cost-effective execution of capital projects within aluminum extrusion, fabrication, and billet casting facilities. Typical project scope ranges from $1M to $40M and may include both equipment refurbishments and new installations. All projects are developed and executed in alignment with Hydro's Capital Value Process (CVP).

This role ensures full compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, regulations, and standards. The Engineering Project Manager also plays a key role in overseeing plant operations to support profitability and strategic goals. Responsibilities include updating operational policies, managing daily activities, driving improvements in operational efficiency (OPEX), executing capital initiatives, and optimizing the use of raw materials.

Required Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, with electrical preference and/ or 5+ years of Heavy Manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with PLC programming and Functional Safety Engineering a plus.
  • Engineering and/or manufacturing project management background.
  • Project experience with Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to manage AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks drawings for conceptual reviews

    and project management.
  • Lean Manufacturing principles including waste reduction experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Safe, on time and on budget development and execution of capital projects.
  • Project management responsibilities from concept development through hand-off to plant.
  • Lead cross functional teams towards common project goals.
  • Travel to vendor & supplier sites (domestic and international) as required.
  • Spend minimum 3 of 4 weeks each month at plant site (4.5 days per week). Must spend quality time on floor with project team and understand the construction and start-up actions
  • Ensure proper/safe operation of equipment & processes.
  • Recommend and prepare changes, additions, and modifications that will facilitate value created in the manufacturing process.
  • Ensure processes are capable, have sufficient controls in place, can meet delivery requirements, and meet cost targets.
  • Ability to be on the shop floor when required, access equipment via ladders, high reaches and other means to effectively.

    evaluate progress, issues and solutions.
  • Travel could be up to 80% depending on the project.
