Join the forefront of groundbreaking research atCity of Hope where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: Contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research.

A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Rui Su, Ph.D., Department of Systems Biology and Department of Pediatrics. We seek a highly motivated candidate to advance cutting-edge studies in RNA modifications, RNA-binding proteins, and leukemia biology.

Since its launch in October 2021, the Su group has produced groundbreaking discoveries published in top journals such as Journal of Hematology & Oncology (2024), Cancer Research (2024), Cell (2023), Cell Stem Cell (2023 O2), and Nature Cell Biology (2022). The Su research program is currently supported by multiple NIH award (R01, U54) and several other prestigious private awards.

As a successful candidate, you will:

Directly work on the following projects:

1) RNA modifications and RNA-binding proteins in phase separation: Investigate the biological function and molecular mechanism of RNA modifications and RNA-binding proteins-driven phase separation in tumorigenesis, with a focus on leukemogenesis.

2) Mitochondrial RNA biology: Dissect the role of mitochondrial RNA modifications in leukemia metabolism and the retrograde mitochondrial-nuclear communication.

You will be expected to:

  • Lead and execute independent research projects.
  • Mentor and supervise research interns in the lab.
  • Write the research papers, protocols.
  • Communicate results effectively in writing and presentations.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:
