Senior User Experience Designer

HealthPartners is currently hiring a Senior User Experience Designer. The User Experience Design (UXD) team at HealthPartners ensures our digital services are simple, intuitive, and delightful. The team includes UX Design, UX Research, and Accessibility. The Senior User Experience Designer drives large projects independently, representing their expertise and demonstrating excellence. The Senior User Experience Designer will also play an important role in shaping the strategy and execution of HealthPartners' Design System.

The Senior UX Designer reports to a UXD Manager and will be part of a dynamic team of twenty-three (23), which includes a Director of User Experience Design, two UXD Managers, a supervisor of UX research, a supervisor of digital accessibility, and several UX designers. Joining the HealthPartners UXD team offers a fun, supportive environment with regular check-ins and growth opportunities. Staff have the chance to specialize or generalize across the design process and work on exciting projects across various domains.

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in UX Design, Information Architecture, Web Design, Interactive Design, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in Human Centered Design, interaction design, user interface design, user research and accessibility
  • Advanced/expert skills in Figma and familiarity with Miro
  • Design systems and pattern library experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Portfolio of relevant and quality work/project samples


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience leading or significantly contributing to large-scale projects or initiatives.
  • Experience demonstrating and communicating rationale for design direction or decisions to key stakeholders.
  • Experience with designing mobile apps
  • Experience working in Health Care or Health Insurance
  • Familiarity with healthcare technology platforms, telehealth, mobile health apps, and data analytics


Hours/Location:



  • M-F; Days
  • May work in a hybrid capacity but will need to be onsite for occasional meetings and/or workgroup sessions.


Responsibilities:



  • (20%) UX Practice Application: Contribute to the UX strategy and practice with a focus on delivering a seamless user experience for consumers, employees, and partners. Understand user and business needs and goals and apply mature practices in User Research, Experience Design, Interaction Design, and Accessibility for both digital and non-digital products.
  • (20%) User Centered Design: Translate user-experiences into smooth and intuitive interactions. Design user interfaces for digital products, websites, and apps, defining requirements for interaction patterns, layouts, components, and design elements.
  • (15%) Design System Contribution: Contribute to the evolution of critical design platforms such as the Pattern Library and our Digital Design System and maintain adherence within their team. Assess and recommend tools that improve quality, consistency, and efficiency.
  • (15%) Strategic Problem Solving: Drives strategic plans that meet stakeholder goals. Connects the dots between their work and broader organizational goals. Maximizes resources to drive greater ROI
  • (10%) Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives that improve the health & well-being of user experiences using data, industry best practices, and human centered design to support HealthPartners core business objectives to maintain the highest performing team, help our patients and members thrive, and enable strategic growth.
  • (10%) Grow and Share Expertise: Stay informed of health & wellbeing user experience trends relevant to their work. Contribute to market research efforts and competitive analysis to assure HealthPartners is leaning into industry leading best practices. Drive innovation within their projects and make strategic recommendations.
  • (10%) Elevate User Experience: Advocate for the importance of user experience within their projects and reinforce it within the product development process. Champion and strengthen foundational UX Design practices while also exploring and recommending new UX Design methodologies, tools and technologies to enhance the team's capabilities and stay current with industry standards. Foster collaboration across different channels (web, mobile, in-clinic, etc.) to create a cohesive and seamless user experience across all touchpoints within their scope. Support a culture of user-centricity through the product lifecycle.
