The State Highway Administration's (SHA) Office of Chief Operations Officer's is recruiting for an executive service position as a Senior Safety Officer (DOT Executive V) in Baltimore City. This position is open to anyone who meets the preferred qualifications below.

Nature of Work:The Senior Safety Officer reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer or his designee, the Deputy Chief of Operation officer and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team. This position will be responsible for overseeing all multi-modal improvement projects across the State of Maryland that have been identified via SHA's Pedestrian Safety Action Plan (PSAP) and the Vulnerable Road User Assessment. Additionally, this position will be responsible for coordinating ongoing complete streets policy implementation across the State of Maryland and for ensuring SHA's compliance with new policies that are issued in relation to Multi-Modal Safety, including implementing Vision Zero initiatives for SHA. State of Maryland that have been identified via SHA's Pedestrian Safety Action Plan (PSAP) and the Vulnerable Road User Assessment.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Experience: Eight (8) years of experience in engineering work. Five (5) years of this experience must have involved the supervision of other employees.

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Professional Engineering License
  • Two (2) years of experience working in the Federal or State Government.

NOTES:

U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as defined under the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted for the required education and experience on a year-for-year basis.
