Duties and Responsibilities |
Position Overview:
The Program Manager will play a crucial role in managing a variety of IT technology transformation implementations and other programs that align with strategic initiatives within our organization. This position will have a significant impact on department-level IT operations and will involve direct influence through cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing mid-sized budgets and contributing to operational tactical planning and the implementation of departmental goals. General Responsibilities:
- Tactical and Operational Planning: Contribute to short-term and long-term IT strategy by offering expertise that supports the organization's business goals and objectives.
- Technical Expertise: Conduct in-depth analyses of performance, systems architecture, and data trends to support decision-making processes. Develop solutions that align with the university's academic, administrative, and research needs.
- Innovation and Emerging Technologies: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies. Assist in evaluating their potential impact on the organization and recommending strategic investments and implementation.
- Budgeting and Cost Control: Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to influence budget allocations for projects and upgrades. Evaluate vendor proposals to ensure cost-effective solutions that meet institutional goals.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure the organization's IT systems comply with relevant regulations and standards, managing risks associated with technology use.
- Collaboration and Communication: Establish and maintain relationships between IT and campus partners to ensure the delivery of quality services.
Position Specific Responsibilities:
- Strategize and Oversee University, enterprise-wide transformation programs and/or applications that would optimize and transform the line of business and/ or internal back-end operation.
- Collaborate with technical, business leaders, vendors, and project management teams to ensure program/project success.
- Develop and manage program schedules, clearly communicating goals and managing expectations to project stakeholders.
- Complete and update the stakeholder registry and analysis to ensure appropriate involvement and visibility.
- Coordinate sessions with a wide range of users from functional areas to review and strategize technology requirements.
- Monitor and report on program status regularly at an executive level to ensure project deliverables are on time and within budget.
- Provide leadership and direction to project teams and business leaders.
- Manage and mitigate risks and issues as they arise with strong conflict management practices.
- Own and manage executive-level meetings and planning activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and quality in program/project management.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience |
Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering and two-four years of relevant experience. |
Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field is required. A master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience managing large-scale transformation programs/projects in Information Technology
- Proven track record of success with managing multiple simultaneous programs and/or projects with a duration of 9+ months and teams of 6-25 people working in various modalities.
- Industry Certifications (PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, CAPM, CSM, etc.), or willingness to obtain them, are strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to translate technical details into easily understandable verbiage for stakeholders and executive sponsors.
- Knowledge of SDLC processes and best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively across various departments and teams.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Experience in Higher Education is a plus but not required.
