The Opportunity:

UCF IT's Project Management Office (PMO) seeks applicants for an Associate Director, IT Project and Planning. The IT PMO Associate Director directs the day-to-day operations of the IT project management office. This position partners with leadership to ensure project portfolio, policy, and practices align with University strategy and goals. The Associate Director drives the team for continuous process improvement, transparency in communication, and professional growth.

We are seeking candidates with extensive technology project management experience, a proven track record leading PMOs, and deep expertise in agile methodologies, portfolio management, and process improvement.

Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the direct supervision of project/program managers to ensure that all projects and programs are delivered within the defined scope, quality, time and cost requirements.

  • Develop policies and procedures for compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements. Implement a process for regular audits and reviews of PMO processes and project performance.

  • Partners with multi-departmental leadership and other stakeholders to locate opportunities and develop and prioritize projects according to relevant measurement criteria.

  • Ensures alignment of IT project/program management practices, processes, and policies to university strategy and goals.

  • Facilitates IT governance, policy development, project intake, prioritization, and assignment.

  • Responsible for IT resource management processes, IT project management tools, and performance management for PMO staff and project portfolio.

  • Ensure transparency and accountability through accurate and timely reporting.

  • Fiscal oversight of project portfolio and PMO area including project budgeting, variance reporting, resource costing, and annual department budgeting.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of relevant experience with at least 2+ years of leadership experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 10 with at least 2+ years of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Preferred Qualifications:

We welcome candidates with any of the following:


  • Deep understanding of, and experience with, best practices in project management information systems, resource management, agile methodologies, technology life-cycle management processes, portfolio management, program management, business analysis, and process improvement.

  • In-depth understanding of information technology services and higher education stakeholder needs.

  • 4 years' experience leading a project management office.

  • 10 years' experience in technology project management.

  • PMP, PgMP, or similar project management certification.

  • Six Sigma process improvement experience and certification.

  • Experience with Kaizen.

  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to facilitate decision making among executive stakeholders.

  • Experience managing agile project teams.

  • Experience coaching students or interns.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Teams).

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, industrial engineering, business administration, computer science, or other related field; Master's degree preferred.


Special Instructions to the Applicants:

This is not a remote position. Up to 1-3 hybrid workdays per week may be available following a probationary period, depending on university policy, work duties, and supervisor approval.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $104,664 to $130,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
