The Clinical Risk Specialist RN is responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and promoting risk and compliance-related projects, and research projects to ensure patient safety and facility compliance with regulatory agencies. Oversight for FDA MedSun reporting, occurrence report follow-up and patient relations interface and resolution. Additional duties may include assisting with HIPAA and compliance activities. This individual will play a critical role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to ensure patient safety, compliance, and overall quality of care in a healthcare system. To excel in this role, a clinical risk specialist should possess a combination of technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

Below are the key skills required:



  • Risk assessment and management
  • Knowledge of tools and frameworks for risk analysis, such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) or Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards
  • Strong analytical skills to assess complex clinical processes and identify areas of potential risk.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with staff at all levels, including healthcare providers, administrators, and external regulators.
  • Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Interpersonal skills to build trust and foster collaboration across teams.
  • Knowledge of project management principles to ensure timely implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Leadership skills to guide multidisciplinary teams in addressing risk-related issues.
  • Collaborative mindset to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, administrators, and legal teams.
  • Knowledge of how technology can be leveraged to monitor and mitigate risks.
  • Empathy and understanding to address sensitive situations involving patients, families, or staff.
  • Promote a culture of safety and quality care.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:



  • 5 years of acute care and regulatory experience and data collection and risk management experience.
  • Must have experience with adult education, basic statistics and project management.
  • Orientation to root cause analysis is helpful.


Required Certification/Registration:



  • Current CA RN license.


Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:



  • CPHRM preferred.

Minimum Rate (USD) : 57.65 - Maximum Rate (USD) : 83.74
