Salary Range:$93,750-$206,250

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $93,750 - $206,250plus bonus eligibility and other elements of our total rewards package. The range represents the amount bnsf | tech reasonably expects to pay for the position based on the level, scope, and responsibilities of the role. Individual compensation is determined by the hiring location and additional factors including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.In addition to base pay, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.

As a Junior Infrastructure Engineer, you will support the design, deployment, and management of SAP systems in both cloud and on-premise environments. Working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, you will help maintain SAP infrastructure, assist in cloud automation efforts, and contribute to integration and monitoring solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the deployment and maintenance of SAP systems such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP HANA, and MS SQL Server.

  • Support SAP cloud infrastructure initiatives on platforms like AWS and Azure.

  • Help implement cloud-native tools and services for SAP workloads under the guidance of senior engineers.

  • Participate in projects involving the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP Integration Suite, and SAP Fiori.

  • Contribute to basic automation tasks using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

  • Monitor and maintain SAP environments, working on issue resolution and performance optimization.

  • Collaborate on integration tasks between SAP systems and third-party applications using APIs and standard protocols like REST and OData.

  • Help implement security and access controls based on SAP best practices.

  • Support backup, recovery, and high availability configurations with the team.

  • Assist in documentation of configurations, processes, and system changes.

  • Learn and apply SAP and cloud platform best practices under mentorship.

  • Assist in planning and coordinating SAP transport movements between development, testing and production environments

  • Support the execution of the SAP change and release processes following defined procedures and governance models

  • Participate in release calendar management and communicate scheduling to stakeholders

  • Monitor and report on transport errors and assist with resolution

  • Assist in creating modifying and maintaining SAP user accounts and roles across various modules

  • Support user access requests and troubleshoot authorization issues with guidance from senior members

  • Document security procedures, role changes and access approvals for audit and compliance

  • Work collaboratively with functional and technical teams to understand access requirements and provide security support

Basic Qualifications:

  • I am CURRENTLY authorized to work in the US.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 1-3 years of experience in IT infrastructure or cloud systems (internships or co-op experience acceptable).

  • Exposure to SAP technologies or willingness to learn SAP systems (SAP HANA, S/4HANA, etc.).

  • Foundational understanding of SAP or ERP systems

  • Familiarity with scripting or automation tools (e.g., Python, Bash, Terraform, Ansible) is a plus.

  • Interest in learning integration technologies such as SAP Integration Suite or API management tools.

  • Understanding of database and operating system fundamentals.

  • Knowledge of IT compliance frameworks (SOX, ISO 27001 is an advantage)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant internship or coursework in SAP or enterprise infrastructure.

  • Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps concepts.

  • Knowledge of SAP security principles or cloud identity management is a plus.

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Grafana or Prometheus is desirable.

  • Certification or training in cloud platforms or SAP is a plus.
