Job Overview:
A strategic and delivery-focused Cloud Design & Release Manager to lead the architectural design and release management of wireless telecommunications applications-such as voice, data, and signaling-into a Red Hat OpenShift-based private cloud. This role combines deep cloud design expertise with Agile release planning, making it ideal for a manager ready to guide cross-functional teams through the full lifecycle of platform evolution, application onboarding, and operational readiness.
Job Responsibilities: Cloud Architecture & Design:
- Own the end-to-end design of cloud infrastructure and platform services for hosting telecommunications workloads in a Kubernetes-based private cloud.
- Define and maintain reference architectures, onboarding frameworks, and design standards that enable scalability, security, and operational resilience.
- Partner with application teams, DevOps, and infrastructure architects to ensure cloud designs meet functional, non-functional, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive cloud-native modernization of legacy telecom services through containerization, service decomposition, and CI/CD integration.
Release Management & Agile Delivery:
- Lead the Agile-based release planning process, coordinating platform updates, application onboarding milestones, and infrastructure changes across multiple teams.
- Manage release cycles, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and stakeholder reviews to ensure timely and stable cloud platform evolution.
- Establish and enforce release governance, including version control, rollback procedures, change documentation, and production readiness reviews.
- Drive alignment between product roadmaps, engineering capacity, and business priorities through iterative delivery cycles.
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Manage a team of cloud engineers and release coordinators, providing technical leadership, mentorship, and growth opportunities.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and shared ownership between cloud platform, security, DevOps, and application teams.
- Champion Agile best practices across teams, promoting continuous improvement, transparency, and value delivery.
Process Ownership & Continuous Improvement:
- Own and evolve key cloud design and release processes, identifying opportunities to increase automation, reduce friction, and improve platform quality.
- Implement tools and dashboards to track release health, deployment velocity, platform uptime, and design compliance.
- Coordinate post-release reviews and retrospectives to capture lessons learned and refine future design and release cycles.
Strategic Engagement:
- Serve as a trusted partner to leadership by providing insight into design tradeoffs, release risks, and delivery progress.
- Translate technical dependencies and roadblocks into actionable decisions and communicate them clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to broader private cloud strategy and roadmap discussions, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational excellence.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong background in Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, and cloud-native architecture design.
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, or Kanban), particularly in release planning and cross-functional team coordination.
- Understanding of wireless telecommunications applications and cloud-based network function integration is preferred.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and automated release orchestration tools.
- Proven ability to lead design reviews, manage delivery timelines, and guide teams through full-lifecycle implementations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across technical and business domains.
- Experience mentoring team members and managing priorities as a people leader is highly valued.
