Ping Identity is looking for a Technical Writing Manager to join our Knowledge Management team. Your primary responsibility is effectively managing a dynamic group of technical writers and the products they support. You will report to the Senior Director of Documentation. You have a background in technical writing and exposure to the software industry.

As Technical Writing Manager, you will bring your leadership skills to a role that requires excellent planning and coordination. You will meet regularly with your direct reports and maintain strong working relationships with Product Managers. In addition to your participation in the product content development cycle, you will be an important part of the Documentation decision-making process. You will draw from your experience to ensure Knowledge Management and company goals are achieved. With the rest of the Documentation team, you will help drive, define, refine, and maintain our content guidelines and best practices.

Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to assess documentation resource requirements
  • Collaborate with other Documentation leaders to drive innovation in the documentation while ensuring consistency among processes and expectations
  • Manage a team of 7-9 direct reports, including coordination of day-to-day activities
  • Observe and provide ongoing feedback to employees
  • Support Senior Director of Documentation as required
  • Plan and manage schedules
  • Ensure employee adherence to Ping policies
  • Participate in the hiring process for new Documentation employees
  • Ensure successful onboarding of new technical writers
  • Assist with the publishing of technical content


Required skills and experience:



  • 3-5 years of proven leadership experience with a minimum of 5 direct reports
  • 7-10 years of technical writing experience
  • Exposure to the software industry, specifically both on-prem and SaaS
  • Excellent planning, coordination, and time management skills


Desired skills and experience:



  • Experience collaborating with other stakeholders to manage projects and design technical communication deliverables
  • Experience contributing to the development and maintenance of team practices
  • Experience in a company that delivers software solutions
  • Experience with XML and Asciidoc
  • Experience with DITA and Docs as Code Experience with content management
  • Some project management experience
  • Extensive experience with JIRA, including creating dashboard and planning reports


Salary Range: $131,000 - $155,000

In accordance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085) the approximate compensation range for this role in Colorado is listed above. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors, such as knowledge, skills, and abilities.
