About the Department

Lakewood Health System is proud to be opening our new state-of-the-art facility dedicated to advancing cancer diagnostics, treatment, and care. As part of our commitment to excellence, we are expanding our clinical laboratory team and are seeking a highly skilled MLT or MLS with extensive hematology experience to join us at this exciting stage.

Mission for Position

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to perform high-complexity testing in hematology within our laboratory. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in peripheral blood smear review, differential counts, and hematologic malignancy screening, along with a commitment to precision, quality, and patient-centered care.

Duties & Responsibilities



  • Perform a full range of hematology testing, including CBCs, manual differentials, reticulocyte counts.
  • Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory instrumentation.
  • Accurately interpret results and recognize critical values, particularly in oncology patient populations.
  • Work closely with pathologists and clinical staff to support patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.



Position Type



  • This is a full-time position.
  • Primarily Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts depending on business needs.

Qualifications

Qualifications



  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (for MLT)
  • Current ASCP or AMT certification (or eligibility).
  • Minimum 2 years of hematology experience in a clinical lab setting, oncology experience strongly preferred.



Ideal Candidate



  • Experience in an oncology, hematology-oncology, or cancer center environment.
  • Proficiency in manual differential and morphology review, including recognition of blasts and atypical cells.
  • Familiarity with LIS and middleware systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform high-complexity testing with attention to detail and critical thinking.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
