  1. Assumes responsibility for, through assigned department manager(s) or coordinator(s), the effective management of departments within Med/Surg. Evaluates daily activities and makes operational changes as necessary to improve service levels.
  2. Identifies the needs of those departments and individuals (hospital and Medical Staff) served by the assigned department and develops departmental goals and objectives and policies and procedures which meet those needs and which support and promote the accomplishment of Division and Hospital goals and the enhancement of services.
  3. May develop and provide input into hospitalwide policies or departmental policies that impact across division lines. Actively participates on hospital committees which addresses operational issues.
  4. Assumes division wide and hospitalwide responsibilities for projects and issues as assigned by the Vice President. Actively participates on hospital committees.
  5. May negotiate agreements with provider groups for certain products and services.

REQUIRED

  • Master's degree in Nursing or BS degree in Nursing or related healthcare field and a minimum of five (5) years nursing experience, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.

PREFERRED

  • Two (2) years clinical experience in specialty.
