Overview

Selective Insurance's Transformation Office has a fantastic opportunity for a highly-motivated, hands-on, and self-starting individual to join this accomplished team. The successful candidate will work on development initiatives that will drive our product transformation efforts forward; including but not limited to developing, managing, and maintaining integrations between key business solutions, building creative dashboards to present complex data, and developing views for users to interact with and manage product development work. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in enhancing our technological capabilities and enabling greater value delivery across our organization.


Responsibilities

  • Work on creating new capabilities that optimize and expand our portfolio management system to align with our transformation goals.
  • Design and implement tools to visualize data, providing clear and actionable insights that guide strategic decision-making.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain integrations between key business solutions.
  • Debugs and troubleshoots system and performance issues.
  • Ensures software engineering best practices and standards are applied, including documentation and change management.
  • Supports customer advocacy and proxy, participating in engagement with internal customers to understand needs, optimize feedback mechanisms, and help incorporate outcomes in product scope and design.
  • Contributes to creation of estimates, implementation plans, research and design, and overall department goals.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of proven experience as Software Engineer or Application Developer
  • Experience in software engineering, preferably web-based applications / full-stack development.
  • Good understanding of C#/.Net, Javascript/JSON, REST APIs, SQL and modern development patterns.
  • Excellent communication skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to work with various stakeholders across product teams.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology, processes, business models and user behaviors.
  • Experience working on or with agile teams and release trains, and knowledge of SAFe.
  • Preferred: Experience with custom integrations, e.g. previously developed seamless connections between key corporate systems, ensuring data flows effortlessly to unlock insights and efficiencies.
  • Preferred: Experience with Data Analytics, e.g. previously performed data analytics, providing actionable insights to empower product teams to make quicker, smarter decisions.
  • Bonus: Development experience with IBM/Apptio Targetprocess, Azure DevOps platforms.
