Job Description Summary

This position will provide leadership for the Athletics Creative Video & Photography staffs, including content development and vision, while assisting in daily project management for creative video, photo and graphic design. Provides leadership and assistance in the creative and visual storytelling direction for Wake Forest, through video, photo and graphic design.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Organizes staff and assigns duties for consistency to the needs of media representatives, athletic staff, and student-athletes. Assigns responsibility for each home and away Olympic sports contest to ensureappropriate coverage.

  • Provides daily leadership for the creative video team and photography staff, while assisting in project management for graphic design-to capture and generate content for all 18 athletic programs for use on social media, recruiting, and in-venue fan experience needs.

  • Provides strategic and daily leadership for the creative team-consisting of videography and photography-in capturing and generating content for all 18 athletic programs for use with social media, recruiting, development, and for the in-venue fan experience to drive revenue and enhance The Best Fan Experience in North Carolina.

  • Plans, directs, shoots, and edits high quality content for Wake Forest Football and other assigned sports in a timely manner, while meeting the overall strategy and philosophy goals of the department.

  • Generate digital content for posting on athletic teams' social media sites.

  • Meets quick turnarounds to post high quality videos on the same day that events occur, while also balancing multiple video projects.

  • Prepares video packages for team functions and/or approved distribution on the Athletic Department website and social platforms.

  • Edits and creates vision of video and photo content through both visual and audio deliverables.

  • Provides leadership in photo and video and photo shoots for assigned sports.

  • Assists in the production of graphic design needs as needed to complete projects.

  • Works closely with internal and external departments to execute digital and creative campaigns to generate revenue, and communicate Wake Forest's brand and institutional messaging.

  • Creates and executes weekly video and content production calendars, with assistance from Sr. Associate AD, Communications & Content to ensure needs and deadlines are met for all external units, including communications and fan experience, as well as the weekly needs of all 18 coaching staffs.

  • Oversees weekly content management and implementation of Opendorse Ready partnership to ensure student-athletes have new and archived content available to build and grow their personal brands.

  • Assists Fan Experience and Communication staff on content strategy, process and protocols to enhance the performance of Wake Forest Athletics social media accounts and branding.

  • Serves as the liaison for Athletics content creators, working closely with internal and external departments to execute campaigns, generate revenue and communicate Wake Forest's brand and institutional messaging.

  • Assists with shooting photography, shooting and editing video and creating graphics as needed.

  • Works with Social Media Manager on weekly analytics reports and sets future goals and benchmarks.

  • Assists fan experience, communication, Deacon Club, and ticketing staff with the execution of creative media needs in support of ticket sales, attendance, and fundraising.

  • Provides video support for coaches recruiting needs, including maintaining and updating a shared content drive with athletic and university photos and videos for use in digital recruiting efforts.

  • Provides leadership in coordination with the Senior Director of Video Services and Photographer in determining creative direction, plans, estimates & timetables for projects.

  • Upholds Wake Forest Athletics branding guidelines & identity standards.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Lead Creative Content Producers, Photographers, Creative Content Coordinator, Gameday Freelance Photographer, and student volunteers and interns.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Filmmaking, Public Relations, Communications, Videography, Photography, Graphic Design or related field, plus 2-3 years of related experience.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects

  • Professional, optimistic, positive problem-solver.

  • Required to work quickly, efficiently, and with adaptability under strict deadlines.

  • Ability to work long hours including nights, weekends and holidays

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Work experience and knowledge of video production, including but not limited to shooting, non-linear editing, color correction, audio editing.

  • Ability to translate ideas and understand limitations in a variety of creative applications such as Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Premier, Photoshop, Prelude, Lightroom, Google Drive, along with limitations of physical production and computer generated post production techniques.

  • Knowledge of professional and cinematic video cameras required, including but not limited to Sony F5, FS5, a7 family of cameras

  • Must be well-versed in color grading, audio mixing and creating basic support graphics.

  • Creative thinker who can balance the institutional brand and key Athletics initiatives with novel concepts.

  • Familiarity with digital media workflows and audio production equipment including the various uses, capabilities, applications, limitations, and costs.

  • Must possess superior image-making and storytelling capabilities.

  • Must collaborate with a variety of media experts across integrated campaigns.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently; ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work in high pressure situations.

  • Knowledge of superior customer service standards and practices.

  • Ability to work after hours and/or weekends and on-call, as specified by supervisor, and availability to travel with teams.

  • Valid driver license with good driving record; must be insurable.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience within NCAA Division I college athletics program desired.

  • Proven success producing creative and innovative multi-media content, as well as experience in other multi-media production platforms (web sites, animation, graphic design) desired.
