Join us as our newest Process Engineer I In this role you will be responsible for supporting production processes of microbial intermediates and finished goods, as well as supporting capital investment projects. The main aspects of this role include optimization of existing processes and parameters, support and qualification of new product launches at production scale, troubleshooting and structured problem solving for daily process/product support, adhering to and enforcing site safety, environmental, and quality policies, and serving as a technical resource (user manager) for small and mid-sized capital investment projects. In this role you'll make an impact by:
Developing thorough technical knowledge of products and technologies within responsible areas Supporting Lean Performance Management system to drive incremental continuous improvement of processes and performance while supporting day-to-day manufacturing activities Supporting/leading troubleshooting and optimization of existing unit operations through structured problem solving (3C, A3, & RIE) Supporting strategic breakthrough improvements in the site's manufacturing processes defined through the Strategy Deployment system. Supporting/leading the at scale launch for new products or transfer technologies from pilot/bench scale and for developing alternative novel technologies that significantly improve existing processes Designing experiments both in large and bench scales, analyze/present data and suggest process improvements and cost reduction ideas Promoting standards by creating/reviewing product manufacturing directions (PMDs), writing/reviewing standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintaining bills of material (BOMs) Developing process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs), completing engineering calculations, mass/energy balances, and process equipment design to meet process objectives Sponsoring small and mid-sized capital Investment Applications as project User Manager by preparing User Requirement Specifications (URS), Installation Requirement Specifications (IRS), and project justification Interfacing with equipment vendors, contractors, and engineering firms to facilitate design, execution and qualification trials for new processes and equipment. Interacting and communicating effectively with all levels of the organization Coordinating team activities Coaching colleagues in structured problem solving to develop in others the ability to think critically and improve problem-solving skills through the scientific method (Plan-Do-Check-Act)
To succeed you must hold:
Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline is required with a preference for Chemical/Biochemical Engineering. Advanced degrees considered a plus. 1+ years of experience in a production environment in a related field is preferable. Previous experience in optimizing/scaling-up of biochemical processes and/or knowledge of microbiology is a plus
