Join us as our new Material Handler

This position works under general supervision and is primarily responsible for loading, unloading and moving materials and finished products within warehouse and pack orders to ensure timely, accurate delivery of customer requests.

In this role you'll make an impact by:

  • Reading work orders or following oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.

  • Loading and unloading materials onto or form pallets, tubs, racks and shelves.

  • Loading materials into vehicles; inspecting vehicles for proper shipping conditions.

  • Unloading materials from vehicles, inspect deliveries and shipments for accuracy and damage and prepare proper documents.

  • Locating stock. Counting, weighing and recording number of units of material moved, handled, or shipped.

  • Prepping materials for shipment by palletizing, banding, wrapping and labeling shipments.

  • Picking and packaging finished products per work orders.

  • Entering data in SAP, updating records and filing documents, electronically and manually, and preparing/distributing reports, as required.

  • Maintaining clean area by sweeping or mopping.

  • Complying with all departmental safety and sanitation requirements.

  • Conveying materials to proper storage area. Rotating stock as needed. Optimizing space utilization.

  • Operating industrial trucks or electric hoists to assist in loading or moving materials and products. Performing PM to lift equipment.

  • Maintaining proper temperature for products.

  • Responsible for cycle counting program/inventory control.

  • Adhering to guidelines as set forth by religious dietary law certifications (Kosher and Halal).

To succeed you must hold:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English.

  • Ability to operate industrial trucks or electric hoists to assist in loading or moving materials.

  • Possess basic computer skills to navigate in email and data systems.

  • Knowledge of GMP, safety, sanitation and Hazardous Materials per DOT requirements.

  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from drivers, other production-related departments (i.e. Customer Service) and co-workers in a tactful manner.

  • Ability to use a calculator to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, including conversions to metric weight.

  • These characteristics are normally acquired through a High School Diploma or GED with at least six months of related material handling experience.

Working Conditions

Working environment is a warehouse and includes frequent exposures to warm/cold and loud conditions, moving forklifts. Occasionally comes in contact with fumes or airborne particles, caustic chemicals, extremely cold (freezer storage) or outdoor conditions. A company issued uniform is required to be worn along with required personal protective equipment at all times. This can include coveralls, dust mask, hearing protection, hair/beard net, safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes. Work may occur into and out of small rooms with air lock compliance to avoid interdepartmental contamination.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, scoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk to hear, and use foot/feet to operate machines. Must be able to lift and/or move 50lbs and occasionally up to 100lbs. (assisted). This included repetitive bending and lifting of items to stack or dump. Must be able to work under hot or cool, wet and sometimes-dusty and loud conditions, dust mask, coveralls and/or hearing protection may be required. Strick compliance to "air lock" rules to avoid interdepartmental contamination. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
