Overview

Astrion is seeking a Network Protocol Engineer to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO.

Primary Role

The Network Protocol Engineer will develop parsers processing different layers of the TCP/IP stack in the Linux environment.

Key Functions

  • Network Protocol Analysis
  • Create parsers to process TCP/IP suite of protocols
  • Interact with technical team members from multiple organizations in a team environment
  • Provide engineering level documentation to enable testing and reporting

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • 5 years' experience in C/C++ programming
  • 5 years' experience developing with the TCP/IP suite of protocols

Desired Education/Experience

  • Master's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 10 years' experience in C/C++ programming
  • 10 years' experience developing with the TCP/IP suite of protocols

Clearance

  • Only candidates who currently possess an active Top Secret / SCI clearance will be considered. Must have ability to get Special Access. Clearance must be at least 1 year away from next 5-year update. Applicants for positions which require DoD security clearance must meet eligibility requirements to include US citizenship.

Required Skills

  • Strong programming skills.
  • High degree of competence in C/C++, Bash.
  • Develop using the Python language.
  • Possess network troubleshooting skills.
  • Deep understanding of the TCP/IP suite of protocols.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix networking, including sockets API.
  • Demonstrated ability to shift from one project to another in an agile work environment.
  • Ability to communicate technical approaches and details within small project teams, including team interaction and presentations.
  • Ability to capture technical approaches, designs, block diagrams, algorithms, and implementations in written and graphical form.

Desired Skills

  • High degree of competence with Wireshark.
  • Developing at the Linux Kernel level
  • Experience with cloud computing and remote systems (REST-ful Architectures).
  • Experience developing with Docker containers.
  • Enthusiasm and interest in keeping up with trends/research in networking transports /protocols.
  • Ability to approach classical problems with new ideas and innovation.

Travel

  • This position will require overnight travel up to 10 percent of the time. Trip durations may range from overnight to several weeks.

Salary

  • $100,000-$150,000
