How does this role contribute to our collective success?

AXIS is seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Technical SME to join our Business Technology Services (BTS) division and spearhead the technical design and development of our underwriting workbench, incorporating AI automation, workflow, and task management. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a strong understanding of insurance processes and technology delivered in a fast-paced Agile environment.

What will you do in this role?
  • Lead the technical design and development of the underwriting workbench
  • Implement AI automation to enhance underwriting processes
  • Oversee workflow and task management systems
  • Utilize modern integration methodologies to streamline operations
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions
  • Collaborate with Technical Leads and Architects on solution design and technical decisions
  • Provide detailed technical insights on systems, platforms, and integrations
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the development team, including best practices for performance, scalability, and security
  • Identify system constraints, integration challenges, and dependencies early
  • Validate architectural and technical design decisions
  • Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and critical incident resolution
  • Contribute technical input to enabler stories, features, and architectural runway

What you need to have:

Key Skills

  • Expertise in modern integration methodologies.
  • Strong background in Specialty Insurance.
  • Solid understanding of engineering and architecture principles

Required Skills

  • Experienced in architecture of low/no code platforms
  • Experience with Azure Integration Services, Functions, Queues, Gateway
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript, YAML, React/Angular, NPM, JWT, OAuth2
  • Extensive integration experience with:
    • REST APIs
    • PAS - Genius/IRIS/Duck Creek/Guidewire/Majesco
    • GL and financial systems
    • Data warehousing - Snowflake, Databricks

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with Unqork
  • Experience with MS Dynamics 365
  • Knowledge of OpenAI
  • Proficiency in MongoDB
  • Understanding of GraphQL
  • Experience with Python

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Application Development Leadership roles
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
