Job Description
Performs a variety of independent, specialized business support duties for assigned areas. Key Responsibilities:
- Understands how the team integrates with others to accomplish team objectives
- Deliver exceptional customer service in person, via phone, and through electronic communications
- Greet and assist visitors, route calls, and respond to general inquiries.
- Serves as a liaison inside and outside the team when resolving routine matters
- Completes routine tasks and assignments
- Provides solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or infrequently occurring based on practice and existing precedents or procedures
- Impacts the quality, timeliness and effectiveness of the team
- Explains information to and within the team, noting improvements, efficiencies, anomalies, etc. to department manager
- Sets own priorities in accordance with team needs
- Serves as an informal resource/mentor and provides functional supervision over mail carriers
- May plan or assist in scheduling of work operations and assign tasks, train workers as necessary in the use of materials, equipment, methods, procedures and safety regulations.
- Initiate required action to resolve work problems and inspect work for conformance to accepted standards
- Possesses a broad understanding of the job and responsibilities
- Applies skills and knowledge in a variety of processes, procedures and systems that impact business and fiscal operations/units
- Operate various specialized equipment for the purpose of sorting incoming and outgoing mail, and/or processing large mailings. Provide direction and leadership to other employees while performing similar duties. Arrange for needed assistance from other shops on a particular job or work assignment and provide coordination for the work being performed. All work is subject to spot-checking and review for overall conformance to specifications and accepted standards of the trade. Functional contacts include co-workers, other department employees, and University staff, students, as well as the public
- Set up, operate, adjust, maintain and make operational/program adjustments to mailing equipment including mail inserters, labelers and sorters. Assist with minor equipment repair and replacement of parts, arrange for maintenance and services with repair technicians and maintain supply levels
- Manually sorts, inserts and labels mailings as needed
- Performs data cleaning by importing and standardizing customer data sets, validating with National Change of Address (NCOA). Presorts for USPS. Notifies customers of undeliverable addresses
- May assist customers with design, scheduling and processing of mail jobs. Provides excellent and courteous customer service
- Maintain current knowledge of USPS regulations and related inquiries
- Administrative supervision is received from department manager
- Researches information, collects data, and prepares analyses/reports, as assigned
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
- Must have a valid driver's license and obtain a Class E license within one month of the start date
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience processing, sorting and delivering mail
- Experience operating bulk mail equipment
Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $16.82 to $22.91 hourly. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
