Leave of Absence Manager

Exciting opportunity to join a growing company and have an impact! The primary responsibilities of this role will be to evaluate the strategy and design of the benefits, develop and implement solutions, manage communications and compliance. You will serve as the main point of contact for vendors, employees, managers, and HR teams regarding leave policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. Your role will involve providing guidance, coordinating leave requests, ensuring legal compliance, and facilitating smooth transitions for employees returning from leaves of absence.

Responsibilities:

  • Leave Policy Development: Collaborate with consultants, leadership and HR Business Partners to develop and maintain comprehensive leave policies, ensuring they are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Employee Guidance: Serve as a knowledgeable resource for employees, providing guidance and counseling regarding various types of leaves of absence, including medical, family, personal, and disability leaves.

  • Leave Coordination: Receive, review, and process leave requests from employees and relevant stakeholders to manage the leave process effectively and ensure Workday is updated accordingly for tracking.

  • Compliance Monitoring: Stay up to date with applicable employment laws and regulations, such as the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other relevant legislation. Ensure compliance with these laws throughout the leave management process.

  • Communication and Education: Communicate leave policies and procedures to employees and managers, ensuring they have a clear understanding of their rights and responsibilities.

  • Strategic Oversight: Generate reports and analyze leave data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.

  • Return-to-Work Assistance: Coordinate the return-to-work process for employees coming back from leaves of absence. Collaborate with managers and HR Business Partners to facilitate a smooth transition, including any necessary accommodations or reintegration plans.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with HR business partners, payroll, benefits, and legal teams to ensure seamless coordination and compliance throughout the leave management process, including file integrations between the vendors.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance leave management processes, streamline administrative tasks, and improve the overall employee experience. Propose and implement changes to optimize efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • In-depth knowledge of leave management regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws.

  • Previous experience in leave administration, human resources, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of HR policies and procedures, as well as best practices in leave management.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide empathetic support to employees during challenging circumstances.

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple leave cases simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with Workday is preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

  • Updated knowledge of current HR trends and practices.
