- Conduct optical design verification tests for Nokia's next-generation coherent linecards.
- Develop and implement comprehensive test plans, procedures, and reports.
- Translate test plans into executable code to automate and optimize testing processes.
- Design, configure, and set up various test stations to run and perform the design verification tests.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with software, firmware, DSP, hardware and optical teams to identify issues and collaborate on solutions.
- Perform data processing and analysis to support test results and troubleshooting.
- Compare test results to specifications and ensure that requirements can be met.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of coherent fiber optical communication systems.
- In-depth knowledge of fundamental transmission impairments in fiber optical transmission systems, including linear and nonlinear impairments and their impact on the transmission performance.
- Good understanding of basic coherent DSP blocks at Tx & Rx, such as pre-emphasis, equalization, carrier phase recovery, and QAM modulation.
- Good understanding of coherent transmitters such as Mach-Zehnder modulators and coherent receiver technologies.
- Experience in Python coding and object-oriented programming.
- Proficiency in data processing and analysis.
- Hands-on experience with characterizing and troubleshooting high-speed coherent optical transceivers using various lab equipment such as optical spectrum analyzers (OSA), wave analyzers, real-time oscilloscopes, etc.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Hands-on experience with system-level optical communication hardware and components.
- Familiar with standard industry design validation process and product life cycle
- Familiarity with Git workflow and version control systems such as Git, GitHub, Bitbucket, etc.
- Experience with database management systems such as SQL, NoSQL, or time series databases.
