This position contributes to the success of The Los Angeles Athletic Club ("Company," "Club") by ensuring a safe, enjoyable use of the facility by members, guests and children through attentiveness, helpfulness, friendliness, and professional conduct. Responsible for providing leadership during the camp activities and interact positively with the children.
KEY RESULTS & TASKS
- Develop and Maintain Strong Parent and Staff Relationships
- Be attentive to ensure safety for each child.
- Warmly and enthusiastically greet parents and children with a smile and eye contact at drop off and pick up of child.
- Answer parent's questions, concerns, and complaints in a timely and courteous manner.
- Notify supervisor of all complaints.
- Maintain daily open communication with parents and staff about camp affairs.
- Ensure parents or guardians sign the sign-in sheet at drop off and pick up of the child.
- Inform parents or guardian of standard pick-up time and late pick-up fee charge
- Inform parents immediately if child behavior was disruptive or out of the norm during the summer camp, such as, illness, behavior, mood, etc.
- Take the initiative to say hi to your parents and introduce yourself and ask for their name.
- Effectively Perform the Summer Camp Duties
- Always ensure safety of child; supervise children constantly in open swim and enforce the pool rules.
- Oversee the program activities of the day and report to your supervisor if there are any problems.
- Never leave children unattended while under your supervision; do not use mobile communication devices while attending to children and ensure proper supervision before going on rest and meal breaks.
- Create lesson plans with the guidance of your supervisor.
- Follow lesson plans on the Summer Camp Schedule.
- Follow policies and guidelines for proper disciplining of children.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for summer camp children; work area must be kept neatly organized and clean.
- Prepare daily friendship circle motivation talk for children to be discussed at 2:45pm.
- Prepare fitness activity plan and arts & craft project that will be taught for the day.
Education, licenses, certification, and/or essential qualifications
- Ideal: Minimum of two (2) years in a position of childcare, camp counseling.
- Ideal: College Degree or Certificates in Child Development, Psychology, or other relevant area of study.
- Required: H.S. Diploma or GED
- Required: First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Required: Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Required: Strong verbal and written communication skills:
- At least eighteen (18) years of age.
