Camp, Recreation and After School Supervisor

The Camp, Recreation and After School Supervisor is responsible for the daily administration and quality of programming, including Camp, Adult Recreation, and After School. Incumbent engages in planning, developing and supervising activities that are therapeutic, social and inclusive and designed to meet the diverse needs of clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (FUNCTIONS) include the following:

Supervision

  • Supervises assigned department personnel. This includes the following responsibilities, but not limited to: hiring, evaluating, training, scheduling, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and the completion of all work performed by direct reports.
  • Educates and trains direct reports on all department and agency policies and procedures.
  • Meets with direct reports at least monthly to identify and resolve problems; manage projects, and review work processes and procedures.
  • Participates in supervisor team activities and agency events including fundraisers as required.
  • Participates in assigned meetings, professional development, and training as required.

Program Administration

  • Develops, implements, and expands person-centered inclusive programs within the sites and in the community in the Easterseals Southeast Wisconsin, Inc. service area.
  • Attends and participates in programming regularly.
  • Presents new ideas and opportunities for programs and services that may better serve the interests and aspirations of participants groups.
  • Ensures program quality by monitoring consumer and referral agency satisfaction.
  • Develops school and community relationships to increase disability awareness.
  • Maintains registration for all programs at all sites.
  • Purchases and delivers all supplies for all programs while adhering to fiscal budget.
  • Oversees the completion of all reporting forms and monthly billing.
  • Assists manager to coordinate with Community Engagement Department to develop promotional materials and to seek donated items, grant and other financial opportunities.
  • Ensures brochures and mailings are distributed in a timely manner for all programs and locations.
  • Communicates with and updates Recreation Program Manager regarding participant and program needs, concerns, billing issues, and overall facilitation of programs.
  • Oversees development of activity calendars and schedules staff.
  • Acts as primary contact for transportation issues.
  • Stays abreast of emergency procedures and/or updates for each program scenario to ensure awareness of protocols in the event of an emergency.

*NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES*

  • Assists Recreation Program Manager to research and market programs.
  • Assists staff with the maintenance of program areas, supplies, and equipment ensuring that they are cleaned/disinfected, stocked/replenished, and in good working order daily.
  • Provides back-up support to all program staff regarding program or participant progress and concerns when the Recreation Program Manager is unavailable.
  • Supports participants with ADLs (toileting, bathing, ambulating, transfers, feeding, changing clothes, etc).
  • Provides assistance to Recreation Program Manager, as needed.
  • Performs other duties (or functions) as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   • High School Diploma or GED required with a minimum of two (2) years' experience working with people with disabilities required, OR a Bachelor's degree in education or a recreation-related field required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience required.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • On the WI Medication Administration Registry preferred.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) and/or Universal Precautions training certification preferred.
  • CPR and CPI Trainer Certification preferred. If not currently a certified trainer, will have the ability to obtain Certification (at employer's expense) within 90 days of employment.
  • Successful physical examination/TB test required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must have proof of insurance AND meet the requirements of the Employee Driving Policy.
  • A Criminal Background Check must meet the requirements of the State of WI licensure for day programming.

  • Ability to exercise safe lifting techniques, operate a mechanical lift and durable medical equipment.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Awareness of disability issues.
  • Ability to interact with people from culturally diverse backgrounds and display strong customer relation skills.
  • High level of cultural competency and appreciation of diversity and inclusion.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Ability to problem-solve issues.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Must be organized and able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Must be honest.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • May be required to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling and reaching.
  • Frequently performs 1 to 2 person transfers.
  • Occasionally exposed to loud/noisy environments.
  • Required to drive, and transport clients, which includes assisting individuals in and out of vehicles.
